Mumblings?

First of all, the mailman brought a lovely selection of new threads for me to use on the new advent calendar....

If you live in Canada and are searching for all sorts of things needlework (including fabric) have a look at THIS wonderful site.  I emailed them the photo of the colours our little one is going to have in her room and Jennifer very kindly chose all of these for me.  That's going above and beyond what's in her job description I'm sure!  No affiliation - just a happy customer!

And just look at all that fabric goodness piled on my sewing room floor!  A friend invited me to come and 'relieve' her of some of her stash, which I was more than happy to do.  There's lots of inspiration in that wonderful pile.  Thank you Connie!!!

Over the weekend I put together this fabric panel which is going into the box for our #3 'Grand' for his birthday.  It, along with the perfect set of toy 'diggers', should be fun for him.

This is the fabric I found in one of the online shops that is perfect for the backing.

Just a little bit of outline quilting and it was done.

Today your quote is from Amy Weatherly..."Some people could be given an entire field of roses and only see the thorns in it.  Others could be given a single weed and only see the wildflower in it.  Perception is a key component to gratitude, and gratitude is a key component to joy"

  1. What a fun collection of colors of floss. That little road map is sure to please the little guy. You may laugh, but there are certain flowering weeds that I leave in the ground when I'm weeding because they're so pretty.

    1. The floss colours were exactly what I needed for the new project, so I was happy. As for flowering weeds - we always left them too. We once had our garden on the local garden tour and were roundly criticized because we had some lovely milkweed in blossom...several people took us aside and very careful informed us that they are a 'noxious weed, don't you know'. Our response? Too bad, the monarch butterflies need them to survive.

  2. Those colours are so lovely, I can't wait to see what you'll be stitching with them!
Fun fabric, aren't other crafty friends great?
Your road quilt is going to be a hit for sure, my boys would have loved something like that when they were younger.

    1. Those flosses are going into the third advent calendar I'm starting on. And yes, quilty friend that want to share their stash are the best!!
The road quilt is for our littlest grandson and the construction vehicle theme will go nicely with the car/truck one I made for his older brother.

    1. The folks in the needlework shop did a great job of choosing colours for sure....I can augment them with a few from my stash and I now have a good selection to work with.

  4. What a grand week you've had with incoming threads, fabric and working on the race track. The backing fabric is perfect. I could see the family all playing on the 'track'. I love the snow globe.

  5. How nice that Lindley provided the service of matching flosses to your fabrics. I look forward to watching this one come together too! BTW, I love the gingerbread hearts at the first link (had to scroll down to see them). I'm now picturing a garland of crocheted gingerbread men and hearts. It's hard telling if that will come to fruition, but you got my gears turning.

    1. Oooh - I hope you make the garland! And yes, Lindley went above and beyond for me and I am very happy. Now I'm having fun playing with colours that are out of my comfort zone.

    1. Thank you Judy - I appreciate your praise! I'm ever hopeful for sales but that's not the reason I do them. If they sell it's simply a bonus.
