#12 and #13 and a hmmmm.....

First of all, the obsession is continuing  and here are #12 and 13 of the mini-stitcheries.....

I'm really happy with Rudolph and the candy canes were a section of a larger design I found on the internet.

You likely remember the box of yarn I showed you the other day and these....

Well, that yarn, although really pretty in the ball doesn't translate very well into fact.  The yarn quality is great so no problems there.  BUT.....the colour changes within the ball are too close together.  I had hoped to crochet a little blanket with it but it was a complete disaster and looked dreadful.  So....I switched to knit and have started this....

Pattern is THIS one.

I still don't know if I'm overly happy with it because to my eye it looks rather muddy.  I'll carry on and finish the project but I suspect there might just be another one made that will look better.  The pattern I'm using is yet another of my 'cobbles' - the original pattern is for a scarf but I thought it would translate into a blanket as well.

Today's quote is from Paulo Coelho...."The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion"

  1. I like the pattern, and the subtle colors. For a hat, the pattern is perfect.

    1. You're right, that pattern would make a nice hat. In this case it's a blanket but I'll keep the hat idea in mind.

  2. Hello Dear. Your blanket is beautiful and reminds me of rainbow sherbet. I adore your little stitcheries. I found the Lion Sherpa Yarn on Amazon, com if they ship to you. It seems to be $7.99 usd per skein everyplace. The bunny and bear are adorable! Summer Sunshine Smiles...

    1. Don't imagine Amazon.com will ship here - and if they do the shipping costs will be out of this world. Most private sellers that work through Amazon simply will not ship to Canada. I'll keep searching!

  4. That's the thing about variegated yarn thst already looks muted. Knitted or crocheted it loses its oomph. I bet a bit of white introduced here and there would wake it up.

    1. Hmmmm - good thought. I'm not sure how I would insert it into this pattern though. Maybe I'll make an additional border around the outside and add some white to it then just to see what it looks like.

    2. Bambi is gorgeous and the the canes so good. I'm sure you will come up with some great idea for the wool. You are so good at that. Interesting links again. I hope you manage to find the bunny yarn as it is wonderful. I like the quote.

    3. I like the pattern I'm using for the yarn so we'll see how it ends up looking. The search is on for that yarn and hopefully I'll be able to track some down. I can probably substitute but I don't know that it would be as soft and huggable.

    1. Yes, those are the right words - deliciously huggable! That bunny just speaks volumes so I'm pretty sure I'll make it one way or another...correct yarn or not.

  6. It’s frustrating when yarn doesn’t look as we expect it too. I’m sorry you aren’t happy with it. I guess that gives you an excuse to buy more yarn and make another blanket!😁

    1. Oh I don't need much of an excuse to buy more yarn! Especially when I can justify it by saying it's for my grandchildren.

  7. I really like the blanket colour changes...Mind you it could look a bit different in real life from what I am seeing.

Love the deer and candy canes.

    God bless.

    1. Thank you Jackie. I have to admit it's rather growing on me. I haven't made a blanket for a baby that has this sort of colour changes so that could be part of my problem.

  8. I like the pattern you've chosen. The colors are very pretty and will transition well as she gets older. My 38-yr-old daughter still has the pastel baby afghan her grandmother made for her tied together in places. I love the bear and bunny. I just saw a pattern for pumpkins made with that yarn and I'm thinking about it.
