A bit of a play

I mentioned in my last post that Monday should have been our local quilt guild meeting (canceled for obvious reasons) and that one of the members had issued a challenge for us to all sit and sew something earmarked for one of the charitable causes the guild supports.  I opted to make Christmas placemats which will be included with all the meals delivered through Meals on Wheels on Christmas day.  This is the result....

This used up pretty much all the Christmas fabric I had in my stash because I made the backsides 'Christmas-y' too.

Today's quote is from Donna Hedges..."Having a place to go is home.  Having someone to love is family.  Having both is a blessing."

    1. I just happened to have enough scraps of that penguin fabric to make two placemats so obviously meant to be.

  2. Thank you for all the interesting links. Your Christmas placemats are so sweet and sweeter still is the guild project that provides a meal with them. Well done.

    1. They are just a little bit of cheer to go along with the meal deliveries at Christmas so worth doing.

    1. I don't normally make placemats and yes they were fun. Don't suppose I'll be making any more anytime soon because we don't use them here.

    1. Nah - it was just a case of not having any raw materials for me to create any of the other projects the guild supports.

    1. You're welcome! She often has really pretty patterns available for stitching -nothing too large and involved so easily created.

    1. My placemats aren't half as pretty as the ones other members have made but they will serve the purpose and with the added 'win' in that they helped get rid of some Christmas fabric from my stash.

    1. Yes, working on Christmas items was a little weird I agree, but it's the only one of the charitable projects the guild supports that worked with my stash.

    1. I expect the placemats bring a bit of cheer to what otherwise might be a lonely time for some of them. This is the second year we've done this outreach and the guild got a number of lovely thank you notes from some of the recipients last year so we know it's appreciated.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
