Today would have been our monthly quilt guild meeting and obviously that's not happening, so one of the members has issued a challenge to spend the time we normally would have been at the meeting to sew one of the donation projects that we support. I will be making one (or more) Christmas-themed placemats that will be given to the recipients of Meals On Wheels deliveries on Christmas day. Pictures will show in my next post!
Over the weekend I didn't do what I intended (start on the landscape) and instead chose to finish the final bits on the green crazy quilt block...
That led to starting on the pink block...

Love the stitching on your CQ block. I haven't done any in awhile but you did inspire me to make up three small blocks and start again. Interesting and unusual colours to go with pink though.

Thank you Julierose - I like the green block but not too sure how I'm going to feel about the pink one when it's done.
DeleteYou are allowed to change your plans. Hand embroidery can be relaxing and goodness knows we need to do that at this time. Thanks for the links.

ReplyDeleteThe pinks are good, just not so sure about those awful greenish tones that are supposed to go with it. Definitely NOT ones I would ever choose if left to my own devices.
DeleteLove the green block and the variety of stitches. You may find the greens for the pink are the link for adding the other colours. You always come up with a good solution. .
ReplyDeleteJury is out on those greens but I'm willing to give it a try. The quilt isn't going to be in any competitions so I'm not too concerned what it ends up looking like.
DeleteI believe your triad color exercise is very interesting and it would be beyond my comfort zone too. Bless you and your quilt guild for making placemats for Meals on Wheels for Christmas. So very thoughful. I used to make monthly ATC cards as tray favors for several rest and convalescent homes. The people really enjoyed them. It always feels so good to give...especially anonymously. ReplyDeleteMaking the placemats is a great way to use up some small amounts of Christmas fabric and the three I made today served that purpose quite nicely. Nice to know they'll give a little cheer to people who are shut in.

DeleteLove your finished green square (though it's back to looking blue as I'm on my laptop - lol). It looks good blue, too. ;^) I think the colors of floss you'll use on the pink square are great. The green threads ought to really pop. At least they look green on my screen.
