Sometimes I *heart* my mailman!

The mailman brought me something really fun and I must say I'm anxious to start playing with them!  Janet from Creative Impressions very kindly sent me a set of the brand new 'Embroidery Stitch Templates' that were created to accompany Kathy Shaw's new book 'Stunning Stitches For Crazy Quilts'.

I am so excited to have a chance to play with them and see how much easier getting my embroidery stitches even will be.  There are 5 sheets of very sturdy plastic templates (example below....)

These are great for any crazy quilter or embroider and do not have to be used along with Kathy's book (altho' it's fun if they are!).
Thank you Janet!!!!💖💖

There has been some progress on the latest landscape, but this is going to change because I'm not happy with the trees in the skyline.  They look awkward so (I'm sure with much angst during the unpicking process) they're going.

Today's quote...."Be careful with your words.  They can only be forgiven, not forgotten"

  1. Loved that quilt idea. Lots of possibilities re books...if you're a quilter...but I'm not. I have a set of those embroidery templates too. Very handy. I put them together in stitch types on little binder rings.

    1. I liked that quilt idea too - but I won't be making it either. My landscapes are about as large as I can handle. Played with the templates this afternoon and I do like them!

  4. Those embroidery templates look really useful. And the stitch patterns interesting. And this is the first close-up look I've taken of this newest quilted picture. Very nice. Love the texture in the rolling hills in the foreground, and the birds! Are you keeping the birds when you fix the trees? Not that I think the trees need fixing, but you're the boss. The birds look like they've been startled (maybe from those trees you don't like) and haven't gotten themselves organized. IOW, they look real. I like 'em! But still, I'm curious if you're contemplating them at all.

    1. The birds are definitely staying - the trees I'm hopeful are not. Provided I can reverse stitch them!! If I can't the sky might change. Will have to wait and see!

    1. I'd love to attempt the giraffe but alas no little girls to give it to (at least not yet - there's a new one on the way and who knows - it might be a girl!).

  6. I think those book are awesome.Unfortunately for me, they’re paper pieced, which is something I can’t and won’t do (it’s like tatting for me; no matter how many times I try it, my brain doesn’t ever “get” it). xoxo

    1. Tatting, I agree, is a mystery. I can't wrap my head around either the needle or the shuttle version and have finally given up on the whole thing. Paper piecing isn't hard - wish I lived closer because I could teach you I'm sure. I was thinking of you though when I saw the books and immediately thought of selvages.

  8. Wonderful templates and how fortunate you were to be selected to try them out. Ballerina Giraffe is super cute! Your newest landscape is coming along nicely. Your inner critic is very harsh on you dear.

    1. Yes, I'm most definitely now a fan of those templates and I know I will be using them a lot. Inner critic - oh definitely she's harsh, but she helps me learn and that's a good thing. I know if I don't like it now I never will, so I might as well bite the bullet and do something about it. Jury's still out on what that will actually be, but stay tuned!

    1. They are! I'm delighted with them....to the degree that I'm toying with starting a very large project just so I can use them more.
