More additions

Because I made a teddy pillow cover for our youngest grandson, I can't leave the oldest without one, so here is his (which will be going in the Christmas box)....

Made from scraps found in my stash and using a monster picture I found online to create a pattern.  What little boy doesn't like monsters - especially if they're friendly ones!

And, because I had some leftover Thomas the Tank Engine fabric (from making the little apron to go with the felt food) I thought I'd whip up a pillowcase - also going in the Christmas box....

These are SO (SEW?) easy to make!  All the seams are enclosed which makes it nice and sturdy as well.

Today's quote..."I was being so good at the craft store, I really was....but then I got out of the car and went in"

    1. I must admit that I try to work on Christmas things all year, but I ramp it up in July (probably inspired by all the Christmas in July posts I see on the 'net). I"m always surprised at how fast those final four months fly by so I try to get on top of it.

    1. Probably there's a lot of truth to it too!

  3. I'm not a very experienced or skillful sewingperson, but I do love a nice French seam!
(And now I'm wondering what the non-gendered term is for a person who sews...it can't be "sewer" can it?)

    1. Hmmm....now that IS a question....I don't know what a non-gendered name for a person who sews would be. I've heard the term 'sewist', but not sure that would apply.

  4. It used to be sewer, but a lot of people didn't like it, and sewist is now the preferred usage. I never minded sewer though. As long as it was said the right way, that is!

    1. Too much 'correctness' in our language these days it seems. Oddly enough the word 'stitch' when changed into a person who stitches, to me should be a 'stitcher' - but spell check doesn't acknowledge that word.

  5. Hahaha...I love this quote! Even hubby chuckled out loud!! Love your Monster pillow. Your Christmas box must be overflowing and it is only August. Wonderful Thomas the Tank pillowcase. I made lots of these easy cases for hospitalized children in Ghana (?) and they get to take them home with them...which is sometimes all they have. Blessings Dear...

    1. I guess technically I should refer to the Christmas box as being boxes? That's what comes from being a person who has always made pretty much all my gifts myself. I've created a monster though, because now all my friends expect something hand made and get quite put out if I cop out and head for the store.

  6. Your grandsons are going to love their goodies from Grandma come Christmas. The Monster pillow is adorable. And you know I had to click on the first link, right? Gasp. I am constantly amazed at what some people can do with yarn and a hook. Crochetdermy! Amazing. Stunning. I need more words. But I'm not sure words do justice to this woman's talent.

    1. You just never know what little kids will like, so it remains to be seen. I think they'll like them though. I saw that crochet link and definitely thought of you!
