More using up

Remember the chunk of a quilt I used to make some pincushions (previous post)?  Well, I also made these...

Eleven bookmarks.  Use part of quilt - check.  Use exactly all 11 'harvested' pieces of doily (flowers) - check.  Fussy cut bits of lace from a larger 'bit' - check.  Use bits of pink ribbon from stash - check.

Now, I wonder what else I might be making with that quilt??  Stay tuned!

The Resident Chef was gifted with a really amazing bread cookbook at Christmas and he's been merrily testing out a few of the recipes, as you can see from this photo...

The Resident Taste Tester has pronounced it good!
(EDITED TO ADD:  The book is 'Bread Bread Bread' by Martin Johansson)

    1. The bookmarks were fun to do and will be added to the gift box for later giving. And yes, it's too bad there wasn't taste-a-vision, because that bread is (was!!!) SOOOOOO good!!!

I use freezer paper to make patterns and adjustments to patterns.

    1. I use it for patterns too, as well as ironing it onto felt for more accurate cutting. Couldn't live without it!

  3. Beautiful Bookmarks dear and so very smart to use what you had on hand. Compliments to the Chef on that delicious and gorgeous loaf of bread. Wonderful quote today. It is very Wintery here with grey clouds and lots of rain.

    1. The using what I have on hand is a case of desperation - I need to get rid of stuff so I can make way for some stuff I DO want to use! Flurries just starting here - storm is supposed to be descending any minute, if the weather report is to be believed.

    1. Sorry - I meant to add the book title (and will) but for now it's 'Bread, Bread, Bread' by Martin Johansson. I've told the Resident Chef that he can start at page one and make them all (with only one or two exceptions).

  5. OH MY!!! Those are just stunning!!! I don't have quilt scraps but I do have vintage towels, etc. that I could use this for. Wouldn't these be wonderful as hostess gifts, tea party favors, enclosed in a birthday card??? Lovely lovely!

    1. Got it Cathy! Hmmmm - wonder where they've been disappearing to. Yes, the bread is simply too good and it's hard not to eat too much of it!

    1. I think they turned out rather cute too - and served a great purpose in using up 'stuff'. A win/win in my books!

  8. Two excellent craft people in one home. The bookmarks are gorgeous and the bread looks fabulous. Both items are drool worthy.
The links are all good too.

    1. The bread was indeed fabulous - and the next loaf he made was too. I've told him that he can simply start at page 1 and make every single one and I would be a happy (albeit much 'fluffier'!) camper.

  9. I loved the pincushions and I love the bookmarks - you are a Master ReMaterializer!
(I think I just made up a word. But it's what I've done with some of the wooden things I've built, then years later, unbuilt and returned to the state of "materials", and still years later, reused in a different construction.)

    1. ReMaterializer - I love that!!!! I think that word definitely belongs in the new edition of the Funk & Wagnall's!

    1. At least I'm getting it used up and am getting rid of feeling guilty because it's been taking up so much space for far too long!
