MAGPIE'S MUMBLINGS

A blog about my interests, which include fabric landscapes and various and assorted other artsy pursuits and sometimes known to contain mumblings of a random nature.

Another bitter cold day here so I'm enjoying the fact that I only have to go out once today. Would rather stay home entirely, but such is not to be.  There has been a teeny bit of progress on my latest landscape (mainly because I've been out more than I've been in the past couple of days)....

If you scroll down to my previous post(s) you can see the progress I've made since the last time I showed you.

Today's quote is from Einstein..."Creativity is seeing what everyone else has seen, and thinking what no one else has thought"

  1. Oooh... I see the light trim on the windows and door. That really brings depth to the picture. And you've added a hole near the roofline. Watching your pictures take form, is like playing a game of I SPY! :) Oh! I also see you added a chimney!

    1. Never thought of I Spy, but you're right! I can't get a photo that shows that I've added 'glass' to a couple of the window panes as well as on the car. It only seems to show in certain lights.

  2. Well....I should've trusted you, shouldn't I. I love this car even better!! Love all that rust. 'Tis a fickle gal that I am. I do believe this is my new favourite pretty from your magical hands, lovely Mary Anne.

    1. Trust me? Muuu haw haw - not something that's ever wise! Today I work on grass (and not the type you imbibe either).

  3. I love all the Clydesdale ads. I don't even have tv! But I catch them here and there. Lovely story lines, great editing. Not sure what product they're selling. Stables? Horses? Cowboy hats?

    1. The wonderful Clydesdale ads are for Budweiser beer. They've created a new ad for many of the Super Bowl games but in recent years they've reverted to something else and they're not half as nice as the horses. I've heard that they did another Clydesdale one for the game this weekend so hopefully that's true. I think they've listened to public opinion for once.

    2. I know! I was joking, old joke about loved the ads, dunno what they were selling.

    1. Would like to hibernate Christine but unfortunately we can't because we're currently dealing with ill friends who need our attention. Not much in the way of creativity getting done at the moment.

  6. MA Dear you are too brave to venture outside in this Polar Vortex. Safety and warmth for you. This Einstein quote makes me think of what my Grandma always told me...”Look at things with different eyes”. She was very creative!!!

    1. Wish we could stay inside Sherry (see my response to Christine's comment just above yours as to why). Just have to bundle up...and hope the car starts!

  7. I see a new chimney and a plank missing. How do you add the colors & shading? Is that paint or fabric? You have added dimension for sure.

    1. Any shading I manage to do is generally done either using paint or good ol' Sharpie markers, depending on the colour I want to use and what I happen to have in my stash.

  8. I have to go out every day, at least twice, but today - unless I find a secret stash of canned dog food somewhere in the house - I'll have to actually get in the truck and go to the shops. I plan on searching very thoroughly for another case of cans before I make that awful decision, though!

    1. Hope you found a secret stash of dog food! Not fun having to go out in miserable weather, for sure. Something to be avoided if at all possible.

  9. Your landscape looks awesome:)

I've never seen that commercial before (not a football fan)......had to get a tissue to mop up the tears:)

    1. Thanks Mary Ann - I'm having fun trying to do a house for a change...and the car adds a whole 'nother element of decision-making. As for the commercial - try googling 'Budweiser' ads and you'll find a number that feature the horses. Definitely worth seeing!!
