This is what it looks like now....
The various pieces have been stitched down using one of the fancier stitches on my sewing machine (my machine is pretty basic, but there are a couple of nicer stitches to pick from). The doilies are pinned down in this picture, ready for a trip to the machine as well.
Above are a couple of close-ups of pieces I used. The little girl hanging the laundry is from a laundry bag that I was given. I absolutely adore her, but there were a number of stains which I managed to pretty much cover with some strategically placed 'bits'. The butterfly was embroidered by my maternal grandmother.
Today the quote is from Herbert Swope.... "I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody"
Oh my! this is quite an undertaking! So far, so AMAZING! Will you be quilting this as well? Beautiful work!

Hello Mary Anne! It has been a busy week here too. I am liking the look of the grande plan... those pieces of antique embroidery are both beautiful! Looking forward to watching this poject progress! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Christine x
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be lovely once it's finished and certainly one of a kind:)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get down to floor level. If I did I'd have to stay there forever...LOL
I'm glad you are doing this project. It's going to be fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThis is quite the massive undertaking to sew all of this lace and pieces to such a large backdrop. You are amazing to get so far so quickly. Now the addition of lace doilies is stunning. Embracing Creative Bliss...
ReplyDeleteI hate to say this but I can't believe it's been a WEEK!. Not that I didn't MISS you, but time is flying by so quickly. This is a cool project. I forget, did you mention how you were inspired to create it? I sure like it.

Love your vintage pieces. I have a drawer full of dish towels I've collected....some I've never used....I don't want to mess them up.
