It's a strange world

I know, TWO posts in one day? Surprise, surprise!!

However, this is one of those rant/vent/mumble moments and if you don't care to 'listen' you'd better just scroll on down to the first post I did today and don't pay any attention to me whilst I vent.

Can someone tell me why, when someone else hits YOUR car, inflicts considerable damage and then leaves the scene that YOU are punished for it?  The ditz that caused all the ruckus didn't have insurance so, because of that, we have to pay the deductible (in this case $500).  Doesn't seem fair, does it.

At least we can console ourselves with the fact that no-one was hurt (other than our poor car that really didn't deserve it).  And the ditz has been charged with careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident, so at least that's some consolation I suppose.
On the bright side of all this mess - we had six people come to us that were quite willing to be witnesses and gave us their names & phone numbers.  Another man stood guard (well, actually sat - on the bench) over our car and put money in the meter & told the bylaw officer not to ticket us.  Just goes to prove that there ARE nice people in this world.  The car is driveable which is good - just a pretty massive dent and a very creaky door.

Wonder if they make car-size bandaids?

  1. grossly unfair but it sounds like there were a few nice people around to assist...k.

  2. In Indiana we have a coverage on most auto policies...Uninsured Motorist Property Damage which usually does not carry a deductible. Repairs to our car hit by an uninsured motorist would be covered under this coverage and no deductible applies.

The worst thing is to be a victim.

  3. Wow, what a yucky thing to happen, my Sister Magpie. How nice of that man to feed the meter and those others to come forward to be a witness. So many times people don't want to get involved. Glad you weren't hurt.

  4. Sorry to hear about that MA but so glad no one was hurt. It is aggravating though isn't it when the other driver who was at fault doesn't have insurance. Very unfair.

  5. This happened to me twice MA so I know how you feel. My car was totalled by a young girl driving without insurance. Luckily no one was hurt bad either time. That man was very kind to do that. there are many good people in this world.
I am catching up and your journal is just wonderful. I can't describe how great the artistry is in it. Just blows me away.

  6. Ooooh sorry to hear about your car. It does make you shake your head when people refuse to be responsible. I hope the car is on its way to being mended.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
