I've been wanting to play with silouettes for awhile now and what better time is there than now. The fabric I used for the sky and the snow in the foreground is some of my hand-dyed using the shaving cream process.
When I went to bed New Year's eve, I happened to look out the window and this is what I saw 'drawn' in the snow in the parking lot...

Today's quote is from Paul Avellino..."Many of us became accidental activists. Not out of rage, but out of heartbreak. Because somewhere along the way we realized silence helps no one. Not the earth, not our children, not each other"

Love how the silouettes are featured in your piece...some really fancy cutting there that you've done so beautifully...Your hand dyed background is just perfect for showing them off to perfection;))) nice WIP hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to attempt something with a silouette element so finally decided to actually do it.
DeleteI love your creative talent!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda - that's very kind!
DeleteOh, the silhouette is going to be so nice!
ReplyDeleteI hope so!
DeleteI am looking forward to more of your landscapes and the silhouette is lovely. Trying new things is what makes life wonderful. Hmmm, hearts for the new year.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I'm looking forward to more landscapes too. I try to challenge myself to try something new with each one I do.
Deletelove the hearts in the snow. Also like the tip about doing things in 15 minute time slots, great idea.
ReplyDeleteGlad I saw those hearts when I did because the snowplow came along shortly after that.
Deleteyour new creation is going to be awesome ... and the entwined hearts are awesome, too - I've tried to stomp out messages in snow and i always make a mess, so good job to the creator!
ReplyDeleteThe landscape will be different, that's for sure.
DeleteLovely scene. The declutter link is right on time! Thank you 😁
ReplyDeleteMay
Thanks May - glad you found something of interest here!
DeleteI love your new work, that scene is beautiful. Wishing you all the best for 2026!
ReplyDeleteI thought you might like it because it's somewhat reminiscent of your work (if I REALLY stretch my imagination!). Happy 2026 to you too.
DeleteAww....two hearts 'drawn' in the snow......♡ I have a feeling this new year might just be a doozy....one way or another. =) Your silhouette is going to be fantastic. I'm all in for being an activist!
ReplyDeleteYes, I suspect (at least from the events of the last day or two) that this year will be another doozy. Good thing we have our creative pursuits to try to take our mind off the worry.
DeleteHappy New Year MA to you and your Family: The silhouette looks lovely, looking forward to seeing it finished. Thank-you for the interesting links.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Happy New Year to you too Catherine! The silhouette is nearly done so hopefully will have pictures ready for my Wednesday post.
DeleteSherryofcreateology: Aah the beginning of a new year. Refreshing as it is I still feel like I never accomplish anything. I like the declutter segment for the sewing room. I have been filling the trash bins a lot these past few weeks and it does feel good. Your Silhouette is lovely! Wonderful way to begin 2026!
ReplyDeleteI did a massive clear out in my sewing room last month and really should go through a lot of it again because I suspect I overlooked some things.
DeleteThose snow hearts are so sweet! I'm looking forward to watching your silhouette (landscape quilt?) develop!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea who did them, but felt bad when the plow came along shortly afterwards and destroyed them.
