.....almost......

I almost have the first finish of 2026 done but sadly it's not quite there in time for a full picture reveal today.  So...I thought I'd show you a closeup of the 'quilting' I did in the sky area.
It might be difficult to tell from the picture but the snowflakes each have a bead that's quite sparkly in real life.  The 'tracks' of the flakes are all hand stitched using silver metallic thread that was a bear to work with.

Although I never make resolutions for New Year's, I decided that I would attempt doing this...

I found this on the internet but there was no credit shown.
If you know, please share and I'll update to give proper credit.

Although weight loss would be a great bonus, just getting more in shape is my goal.  I used to go to yoga classes many years ago until my wrists wouldn't allow me to do some of the poses.  The class was advertised as being 'gentle yoga' but the day the teacher thought it would be a good idea for us to all stand on our heads was the day I walked away (well, more likely I crawled...but you get the idea).

- I thought THIS might be handy for some people.

- Although the 'C' word is mentioned at the beginning of THIS, I think it would be something pretty you could make for your sewing room.

- THIS is an awww-worthy thing!

- If you are a fan of Snoopy, perhaps you'd like THIS.

Today your quote is from JRR Tolkien..."I have found that it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay.  Small acts of kindness and love"

  3. If you're open to suggestions? Yes2next , April the trainer and her mom Aiko, on YouTube, do a nice chair yoga you might want to see. I've followed and liked it.

    1. The hard part about using YouTube is that the chair I have in my sewing room where my computer is doesn't lend itself to doing exercise. There's no room to add another chair so I had to head either for the dining room table or the bedroom where there's no access to YouTube.

  6. Oooh, the sparkly snowflakes are great! And I love the swirly quilting - great for a cloudy sky. I recently tried cross stitching (outlining) with gold thread, and I had to give up. I guess some have success with it cross stitching, but I'll be looking for another (easier) application to present itself. Somehow it makes me feel better that you found it challenging to work with. I thought it might just be me.

    1. Yes, metallic threads are a bear to work with. I use a product called 'Thread Heaven' on them and they still snap and snarl at me.

    1. The stars didn't start out to be the way they've ended up, but that's often the case when I'm creating something.

  10. Oh, I'm imagining you trying to stand on your head and unable to, crawling endeavouring to get up. =) Thank you for the giggles, Mary Anne. I do some chair yoga and other gentle exercises to keep me moving. Love those pearl snowflakes. Yikes....metallic thread is a bear.

    1. Couldn't figure out how, by any stretch of the imagination, standing on my head was supposed to be gentle yoga for seniors ...yikes. Chair yoga seems to be just about right but we'll see if I can stick to it.
