Another wee finish

I had some yarn left over from the fusion quilt project and decided I would use some of it to make this little sweater for our wee grandie.  It will fit an 18 month old through to a 3 year old so she'll be able to wear it for awhile.  Heading for the Christmas box I think.

Pattern is HERE
PATTERN NOTE: The buttonholes aren't
all listed in the pattern.  There's one at Row 5
and I used those directions to add two more at
Rows 21 and 37
And...one corner is stitched on the quilt and now I'm working on creating something for the other corners.  I had contemplated making pillow shams and leaving the top of the quilt unadorned but I think I will opt for more flowers (primarily to use up the fabric!) and not bother with shams.  There might be enough left to recover the two throw pillows we have on the bed.

- I think THESE are really pretty!

- HERE is an idea you might like to try.

- THIS would be a great project for both kids and adults.

- Scroll down on THIS post to see why these caught my eye.

Today's quote...."Before you assume, learn the facts.  Before you judge, understand why.  Before you hurt someone, feel.  Before you speak, think"

  1. I like where you are going on the quilt. Since you have the fabric available, yes, add to the top part because the shams may not follow the quilt around for the rest of its life. Pillow covers wouldn't take much fabric.
I've decided from looking at all your links over your past posts that amigurumi is not a title but a term which led to a search. Thank you for teaching me something new.

    1. I had hopes that I would have enough of the white background fabric to make shams but alas not the case. So I changed my plan and now I've downsized that to perhaps a couple of throw pillows depending on how much of the green and purple I have left by the time I'm done with the borders.
You're welcome (re the amirgurumi thing)

  2. You are on a roll finishing things! I love that little seater--so sweet. The applique on that corner is really gorgeous--what a pretty spread this will be...nice work hugs, Julierose

    1. Thanks Julierose. I wish the quilt was as fast to finish as the sweater was.

  3. The applique dancing around the corner is beautiful, Mary Anne. This quilt is going to look stunning. Love the pretty yoke on the wee sweater; such an adorable pattern.

    1. I hope it's going to look okay....it will be going to a longarm quilter so hope she's up to the challenge of finishing it off (not for awhile though because there's a lot of applique left to do).

    1. It's a nice pattern - just be aware that all 3 buttonholes aren't listed in the instructions. I put mine at Row 5 (as the instructions said) and added the other two at Rows 21 and 37.

  5. The quilt is just stunning!
    Awww sweater is so cute.
Crate decoupage is a nice project. The Mason jar covers are good gift ideas for summer, coaster like cover for lemonade. Around a mug works for me as well.

    1. This quilt is going to rely a great deal on what the longarm quilter does with the open areas. We'll have to wait and see!

Sherry of createology: Such a very sweet sweater for your little grandie. The flower hexie quilt will be so beautiful for your bedroom. As we jump forward one hour may we be closer to Spring and Blooming Flowers and maybe Sunshine.

    1. Our bedroom has vintage dressers and we use beautiful old washstands as side tables so I think this quilt will work. I'm just very much afraid that I'm going to want to change the paint colour once the quilt is done and THAT's not something I relish doing!

  10. I could not quite picture how this was going to turn out. Not worried, mind you... just didn't envision how clever you were going to get with your appliqueing. This is going to be quite a treasure when done. And the little sweater is so sweet for your sweet granddaughter. :)
