The pile - it grows...and a sort-of finish

I think I need at least 17 strips for the mile-a-minute afghan for Resident Chef and as you can see, the pile is growing!

Our wee granddaughter is turning one in a couple of weeks and what self-respecting grandmother doesn't step up and make her a teddy bear?  Once the bear was done it was decided that going on that long trip without any clothes was just too much to contemplate...so....a dress was added AND I'm working on panties too.

- Rabbit Hole Warning!!!  If you go HERE, be prepared with snacks and beverages of choice because you're going to need 'em!  Found via Canadian Needle Nana (thank you!)

- Many of you choose a 'word of the year' so perhaps you might like to read about a little different approach (that of choosing a monthly word) and can read more HERE.

- THIS might be a fun project that would be easy to do.

- I know I won't do any of THESE but I was intrigued by the creative ideas people have come up with.

Today's quote..."Nothing in nature lives for itself.  The rivers do not drink their own water; the trees do not eat their own fruit; the sun does not shine on itself and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves.  Living for others is a rule of nature"

  1. I like the word of the month better than of the year. More manageable. Love the teddy bear. She may need boots and a hat, too..

    1. A word of the month seems more doable, for sure. Alas no boots or hat planned - it's enough that she'll be getting underwear!

Hugs from the depths of that "Rabbit Hole" Julierose ;)))

    1. A newborn baby dress pretty much fit the bear exactly...just a little long.
Enjoying that rabbit hole right along with you!

  3. Such a cute teddy, and of course they couldn't travel without clothes to keep them warm. I checked out the rabbit hole and will be going back very soon. Love what they do with those old pieces of glass.

    God bless.

    1. A little girl teddy definitely needs a dress (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!). She'll soon be heading out in the mail for the long trip to BC.

    1. She certainly is a little sweetie (but then again, I'm biased!). She definitely needs a bear so I'm happy to oblige.

    1. Resident Chef is anxiously awaiting his new blanket - even to the point of happily rewinding yarn for me so I can crochet faster.

    1. For now I expect the bear will stay dressed but I suspect our little one won't be long figuring out how to undress it. The dress is held in place by velcro so it will be an easy on-off.

    The afghan is looking good.
Coco's word a month is a wonderful idea.

  8. What a terrific gift for a one-year old. And clothes to travel in, too. You're the best. :)

    1. Yes, it's a fast pattern to do, for sure. I have an added incentive - that of keeping Resident Chef warm!

    1. The mile-a-minute works up so fast (also helps that I'm a fast crocheter) and Resident Chef is looking forward to his new blanket. Hopefully our wee grandie will enjoy her teddy bear.

    1. It's an 18" bear and a newborn sized dress fits pretty much exactly - it was just a little long.

  12. The afghan colours are great so far, love it!
OMGoodness, that bear is adorable and so is her dress. Will she get a hat too?

    1. RC doesn't care what colours his afghan ends up being so I'm using whatever I have that needs to be used up. I've played yarn chicken with a lot of it and so far I've won.
I never thought of a hat! I think the newborn hat I made for the baby will fit the bear so I'll suggest that.
