First of all, Resident Chef has been fiddling with a new sourdough bread recipe and appeared in my doorway to show off his latest efforts..
experiments sure tasted good!
I've darkened the 'branches' of the birch trees on the landscape as you can maybe see in this photo. Currently I'm working on the embroidery part which I hope I can show you on Monday.
It seems like the general concensus is for me to continue with the links despite some of you having to deal with an over-abundance of ads, so I'm more than happy to oblige....
- THIS might be a fun technique to try.
- Have a peek through the works of THIS artist (and then, be sure you're sitting down and click on her price list).
- THIS is a fun way to use small-ish scraps of fabrics.
- If you knit using DPN's, perhaps you'd like to make yourself some of THESE.
Today the quote is from Jennifer Gayle..."Some days you will be the light for others, and some days you will need some light from them. As long as there is light, there is hope, and there is a way"
Fyi, the masses of ads are a recent phenomenon for me. I suspect it's small businesses monetizing desperately to stay afloat. Anyway, don't worry about it.
ReplyDeleteThe dpn holder is a good idea. My own are still in the original little sleeve thing they came in, but could use an upgrade.
I think you could be correct re the numbers of ads that are appearing.
DeleteAs for the dpn holder idea - I think what I like about them is that the sizes are marked on the holder so I wouldn't have to keep checking them every time I want to use them.
oops, right after I posted my comment, I saw that you said the same thing :)
DeleteThose trees are gorgeous and so full of life. I'm thankful for the links to check things out - no problem with ads for me though I don't know why. I had never heard of those "mice" but that makes so much sense and I love the outcome with those rectangles. What a super idea. Too bad I'm not a prolific seamstress.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you don't have issues with ads! I'm not a prolific seamstress either, at least not when it comes to creating cotton scraps suitable for quilts.
DeleteGreat little scrap "mice" idea--I will definitely be doing this I have a ton of little cut off triangle that would work!! Thank you
ReplyDeleteI LOVE love love the darkened branches--this is a lovely piece...
hugs, Julierose
Glad you found an idea that you might want to play with!
DeleteI was semi-happy with the branches as they were but I like them better now that I've darkened them somewhat.
The dpn holders are SO much prettier than my plastic toothbrush holders from the dollar store! And sewing size labels right on the holder is simply brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of plastic toothbrush holders too! Especially if they were labeled so you know the correct size at a glance. Hmmm.....
DeleteYou have the pleasure of being a guinea pig!!! :)
ReplyDeleteFor sure! I'll be his guinea pig anytime.
DeleteOh my those loaves look great, and I just bet they tasted beyond wonderful. I might just have to add those double point holders to the list of projects I need to do.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The loaves certainly passed the taste test!
DeleteI think I'm going to put making those DPN holders on my to-do list because I think they'd be really handy
Yum..... home baked sour dough bread. Love the dark branches as they add lovely dimension and contrast to the wintry landscape. Oh.....and those snow-laden fur trees are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYum indeed! Hard not to pig out on that bread, for sure.
DeleteHi MA, That bread looks good - but I think you may need to buy RC some larger tins! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe current landscape is looking really good, and very realistic. I wish I had your skill.
Val (UK)
That bread was an experiment and he thought 2 pans would be enough but obviously could easily have made three.
DeleteAs for skill, if you only knew how many hours are spent in contemplation on how to create something I'm wanting to do!!
Sherry of createology: I can almost feel the warmth and smell the delicious bread Resident Chef is making. YUM!! Your branches look excellent on the trees. MA Dear you could retire if your landscapes fetched those prices…WOW! Light, Love and Hope. I am sorry Mother Nature canceled your family visit.
ReplyDeleteI could retire if I only sold ONE landscape for those prices!!
DeleteThe bread looks delicious! Like the darkened twigs on the birch trees. I think this landscape is a favourite for me. Have a lovely weekend. Christine xx
ReplyDeleteThe bread is delicious for sure - and smells heavenly when it's fresh out of the oven.
DeleteI like the darkened twigs too - gives them more definition I think.
Keep up with the links!! I LOVE them. Liked the DPN idea, very useful and easy!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine the aroma in your home. Baking bread reminds me of comfort and warmth. You're coming right along on the landscape. Such detail.
ReplyDeleteupdate on my ad blocker: I double checked to see if my Firefox ad blocker was on and it was. I checked with PC Mag, one of my favorite resources for tech stuff to find their recommendation for a good free blocker. I've installed adblocker plus. All of a sudden, I feel like I can breath and not smothered. One quilting site that was horrible, was suddenly clean. I didn't even have to restart my computer for it to install completely. adblocker plus reported on one of her pages 9 ads that apparently reappeared 51 times on the page. No more playing 'wack a mole.' Thank you for reminding me these blockers can work if you get the right one. I hope it continues.
Yay for figuring out the ad blocker thing! I'm glad I was able to at least get you started on figuring it out. I suspect that must be the ad blocker I have on my computer but I haven't a clue how to check to see.
DeleteOooooh. I'm late posting this, but you remind me I missed a sourdough starter zoom meeting today that a Youtuber was offering. Those loaves look amazing. I wonder if the zoom meeting was saved as a youtube video. It was going to be the beginning of me giving this a try...
ReplyDeleteResident Chef has playing about with sourdough since covid began and we weren't able to get yeast. Now it's a staple. If you want a really good bread recipe let me know and I'll send it to you.
