The pile of quilt squares I showed you the other day has been buttonholed and now I have to figure out how to crochet them together. Won't show a picture because basically they still look the same.
The landscape has progressed with the quilting done on the snow area, the sky and some 'branches' have been partially added to the center section of the birch trees.
- THIS would be a fun project to make (and if I posted this link before I apologize!)
- Have a peek through the gallery of THIS artist!
- And THIS artist too!
- Scroll down when you go HERE and you'll see why it's one of my 'awwww' things.
I am always amazed at all the texture that you get into your quilts. It's fascinating to see them come alive.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I guess the hours I put in with the quilting is worth it...I'm never sure that it shows up in the photos.
DeleteOh my goodness the quilting is beautiful, your lines are so straight and lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for the links, the gallery photos are amazing, I would love to make a bag some day.
Catherine
Thank you! I sometimes with I had some lessons in how to free motion quilt 'properly' - but I muddle through and it looks okay.
DeleteLove those delicate branches--really nice work making everything so realistic...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI need to go over the branches once more to give them a bit more definition...in real life they're looking a little lost.
DeleteSherry of createology: Good Morning MA. It is Sunny here but very cold at 31F. Landscape is looking good. With your snow quilted. Lots os amazing and very talented artists in our world. I say “Awwww” also. Good quote today.
ReplyDeleteWe're certainly missing the sun here - the entire month has pretty much been dull it seems. This morning we woke up to a beautiful frost on all the trees which would have been much prettier had the sun come out.
DeleteI really like the boro bag, especially the sashiko stitching. Thanks for always coming through with interesting links.
ReplyDeleteSashiko is on my list of 'wanna-do's' but hasn't been acted upon yet.
DeleteCaution: the amigurumi site repeatedly refers to knitting then follows with crochet instructions, poorly translated. Nice picture but I can't see how I'd follow the instructions. Another ad heavy site. I bet there's a place to get instructions though, so it's good as a starting point. I'm pretty sure amigurumi is usually crocheted.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - I just looked and that site does refer to knitting but then as you scroll down it switches to crochet. Not a great translation. I was more taken with the 'awww' factor of the finished project and didn't pay enough attention to the how-to part of it. Sorry!
DeleteJust love how this landscape is progressing. I can't wait to see your fusion quilt too! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI'm liking this landscape too - at least so far! As for the fusion quilt, I'll be playing around with ideas for the crochet part tonight so we'll see where it goes.
Deletethose tapestries are stunning. I forwarded that crochet dog pattern onto a friend. Love how your landscape is coming along.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gill - today was a lost day when it came to being creative so will have to make up for it tomorrow.
DeleteAwww, cute dogs. The landscape is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes, the dogs were definitely an 'awwwww' - not that I plan to make any though.
DeleteYour wintry landscape is exquisite! The quilting is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteawww - thank you Kim!!!
DeleteI see those branches there. Embiggening the picture I love seeing the details - both in the fabric and your stitching. Beautiful, Mary Anne.
ReplyDeleteI need to do another pass over the stitching on the branches because they don't quite have enough 'oomph' (if that's a good term for it!)
DeleteLove the quilting!
ReplyDeleteI thought you made a bunch of potholders. As a quilt, that sounds really neat.
I really don't think I'd have need for 80 potholders (my friends wouldn't thank me either!). I haven't tried this 'fusion' thing before so don't know how it's going to turn out.
