Buttonhole-ing and landscape-ing

The pile of quilt squares I showed you the other day has been buttonholed and now I have to figure out how to crochet them together.  Won't show a picture because basically they still look the same.

The landscape has progressed with the quilting done on the snow area, the sky and some 'branches' have been partially added to the center section of the birch trees.

- THIS would be a fun project to make (and if I posted this link before I apologize!)

- Have a peek through the gallery of THIS artist!

- And THIS artist too!

- Scroll down when you go HERE and you'll see why it's one of my 'awwww' things.

Today's quote is by Jennifer Gayle..."Some days you will be the light for others, and some days you will need some light from them.  As long as there is light, there is hope, and there is a way"

  1. I am always amazed at all the texture that you get into your quilts. It's fascinating to see them come alive.

    1. Thank you! I guess the hours I put in with the quilting is worth it...I'm never sure that it shows up in the photos.

    1. Thank you! I sometimes with I had some lessons in how to free motion quilt 'properly' - but I muddle through and it looks okay.

    1. I need to go over the branches once more to give them a bit more definition...in real life they're looking a little lost.

    1. We're certainly missing the sun here - the entire month has pretty much been dull it seems. This morning we woke up to a beautiful frost on all the trees which would have been much prettier had the sun come out.

  5. I really like the boro bag, especially the sashiko stitching. Thanks for always coming through with interesting links.

    1. Sashiko is on my list of 'wanna-do's' but hasn't been acted upon yet.

  6. Caution: the amigurumi site repeatedly refers to knitting then follows with crochet instructions, poorly translated. Nice picture but I can't see how I'd follow the instructions. Another ad heavy site. I bet there's a place to get instructions though, so it's good as a starting point. I'm pretty sure amigurumi is usually crocheted.

    1. You're right - I just looked and that site does refer to knitting but then as you scroll down it switches to crochet. Not a great translation. I was more taken with the 'awww' factor of the finished project and didn't pay enough attention to the how-to part of it. Sorry!

    1. I'm liking this landscape too - at least so far! As for the fusion quilt, I'll be playing around with ideas for the crochet part tonight so we'll see where it goes.

    1. Yes, the dogs were definitely an 'awwwww' - not that I plan to make any though.

  11. I see those branches there. Embiggening the picture I love seeing the details - both in the fabric and your stitching. Beautiful, Mary Anne.

    1. I need to do another pass over the stitching on the branches because they don't quite have enough 'oomph' (if that's a good term for it!)

  12. Love the quilting!
I thought you made a bunch of potholders. As a quilt, that sounds really neat.

    1. I really don't think I'd have need for 80 potholders (my friends wouldn't thank me either!). I haven't tried this 'fusion' thing before so don't know how it's going to turn out.
