The eagle-eyed among you might notice that I changed the roofline of the building in the foreground somewhat and that there's more stitching been added to the boards. I also added the border.
- Here's a tip if you happen to live in an area that's prone to power outages....keep a few plastic jugs filled with water in your freezer. The ice will help keep the freezer cold longer should the power go out.
- I love the look of THIS but oh....the ends!!!!!
- Have a peek through the sweet creations of THIS artist.
- THIS looks like a fun process.
- THIS post popped up in my blogging feed and first it made me smile and then I scrolled down and laughed (guffawed actually!).
- There's a free online class available HERE if you're interested in dyeing with natural products. Time sensitive though - only available til the 29th I believe.
- I know THIS is a paid pattern but I love it. I've been looking for a little sweater for summer use and this one just might go on my list.
Today's quote..."Remember as you slide down the great bannister of life, there are gonna be people who are splinters in your butt. Pick 'em out and slide on!"
Good idea about the freezer jugs, also if you lose water pressure in an outage, you have drinking water to thaw. My freezer's always packed anyway, with food and art materials!
ReplyDeleteWe only have a small freezer so not much room for jugs but I know there were a great many people who lost everything in the recent power outage. We just wrapped both our freezer and fridge with all the blankets and quilts we had and didn't open them and we were fine.
DeleteYour picture is coming to life as you add stitching so well!! I love the outline of the red car(?). A nice focal point. Hope your weekend goes well hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThat Volkswagen looks a whole lot different now that I've done a lot more work on it. Stay tuned for an update on Monday!
DeleteNice quilting progress. The beach buns link made me laugh as well. I like the freezer tip. I think I can fit one small bottle in there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the beach buns - we need a little more humour in our lives!
DeleteEnjoying the progress on your latest landscape Mary Anne and I really enjoyed looking at the needle lace site. Looks a lot of fun! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. The landscape is coming along nicely but there's still hours of stitching ahead of me.
DeleteI am loving this newest landscape. I have put jugs in the freezer before and should actually be doing so again this summer.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie. We don't have room in our freezer for jugs (we have a tiny little freezer) or I would be doing this.
DeleteThe landscape is looking good. Loved the 'Beach Bums'!
ReplyDeleteThe landscape is coming along. It's changed a lot since this photo was taken.
DeleteWonderful progress! That Rosanna sweater pattern is beautiful. And I love the quilt with the ladies...Beach Bums. I could be either one of them as I do carry my weight in my bottom half, LOL. Thanks for the links as always.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the links! I am definitely coveting that sweater so might have to succumb to trying to make it. I've been wanting a short-sleeved little summer sweater and nothing has been turning up in the stores.
DeleteWith talk of brown outs (which we haven't experienced yet) stashing some jugs of water in the deep freeze sounds like a good idea. I need to eat up some food in mine to make room, though. lol I think I missed the beginning of this landscape. Looking forward to watching its metamorphosis.
ReplyDeleteAs long as your freezer is full of something it's all good. Some people don't keep their freezers full so adding the jugs would be helpful for them. We don't have room in ours either (it's a small apartment-sized).
DeleteSpending most of my life farming, we always kept half&gal waters in freezer. Used them in cooler where they didnt mess everything with melted water like a bag of ice. The hunk of ice also lasted longer in the water cooler out in the hot fields. You're right, they will keep freezer cold longer just dont open freezer if possible.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I grew up on a farm and my mother did this all the time. We couldn't afford to buy bags of ice so she'd freeze water in whatever containers she had.
DeleteThank you for the freezer tip. Your quilt is coming along nicely. I always like progress photos and posts.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like seeing the progress photos - sometimes I wonder if any actual progress can even be seen.
DeleteSherry of createology: Your latest update on the landscape really does add a lot. Good tip to keep jugs of water in the freezer…I do it too. Lots of enticing links today dear. Oh those darned splinters!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, the splinters of life make it interesting, don't they.
DeleteI love the red against the shades of green. What a beautiful piece this is going to be. I also appreciate the tip for the freezer.
DeleteThose who use a colour wheel I suppose would be proud of me but it's a complete fluke. Just so happened the photo I'm using as inspiration featured a red car.
