Yes, you read that correctly. 29,258 half cross stitches to get to the point where I'm at on the Christmas ornaments (3 done, working on the 4th). I thought I'd amuse myself by figuring it out and I astounded even myself. Who knew?
Well, now YOU do and I'm sure you couldn't
possibly NOT want to know that little
tidbit of information!
- A friend of mine does the most amazing short films and she graciously is allowing me to share her latest creation with you. Her work is incredible and she has won several awards for her filmmaking and deservedly so. I suspect this one will win her more accolades. Go HERE (have your sound on).
- I must admit that when I saw THESE there was an involuntary awwww on my part.
- HERE is another great use for odd bits of yarn.
- There's a semi-tutorial here for THIS - lots of room for interpretation.
Today, instead of a quote....
Claire Garland rules! She does the best animal patterns ever.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't noticed the design was hers - and yes, she does rule!
DeleteI love the Sandy Lupton embroidered scarf--what a great idea...thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteThat is a ton of stitches!! Your ornament is looking fabulous--hugs, Julierose
The scarf caught my eye too - not sure I'd ever attempt one but I know there are lots of people who would.
DeleteWonderful video, very thought provoking
ReplyDeleteShe does amazing work - this one is the best yet I think.
DeleteI can’t believe you actually calculated the stitches! Something Imightdo! Ha! Your video friend is a talented one!
ReplyDeleteYou can tell I haven't enough to do when I haul out the calculator to figure out something like that. I need to get a life, obviously!
DeleteAnd yes, she's very talented, for sure.
I think I'd be both fascinated and horrified to know the number of stitches in my cross stitch or knit or crochet projects. Interesting video. Not 100% sure how to interpret the ending, but I can say I didn't see it coming. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I suspect we'd all be horrified if we were to sit and figure out how many stitches go into the things we make. I know I was astounded and calculated it more than once because I didn't believe it the first time.
DeleteMy interpretation of the ending is that 'The Man' that came for the animals represents death - or the Golden Bridge if you believe in such.
A wonderful collections of Links, MA.- all winners! The videos are fabulous. I think my young GKs could attempt the gorgeous scarf with fabrics I have.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the links! I always have a hard time whittling the number of good ones I find down to something manageable to post about.
DeleteEnjoyed all of today's post. I too get into that number thing a lot. Don't know why?
ReplyDeleteFirst time I've ever been inspired to count stitches in anything and after the shock of this exercise, I doubt I'll do it again!
DeleteSo, so many little half stitches in your pretty cross stitch, and as for the sublime video, just so beautifully poignant, Mary Anne♡
ReplyDeleteOh no, that many stitches aren't in the ornament I showed in this post - it's the total of 3 1/2 projects. I'm about at the mid-way point of having them all done.
DeleteMy goodness you have stitched a lot on the ornaments. I don’t think I could even count that high…let alone stitch that many! Thank you for sharing Knots. Such an important message! There is something strange going on with comments on several sites. Sherry of createology
ReplyDeleteYes, I've noticed the commenting change too. Wonder if it's permanent.
DeleteAnd no, I didn't count the stitches per se - used my handy dandy calculator for that one!
