Can you see it now?

Hopefully you can see the changes I've made in the landscape now because I think they're a little bit more noticeable.  I still have some work to do in the 'windows' and on the roof before I can call the house part done.

- THIS is a sweet little cross stitch design that would make perfect gifts (especially if a book went along with it!)

- There's an interesting article HERE regarding water colour painting on fabric.

- And if you go HERE there's another tutorial that might be fun to experiment with.

- If you go HERE there's a tutorial for making a blanket that would be perfect for using up scraps.

Today the quote is from William Faulkner... "Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed.  If people all over the world would do this, it would change the earth"

  1. More interesting ideas here. I've done quite a bit of acrylic painting on fabric, great fun, especially the metallics.

Your work is coming to life now, at that stage where you can see where it's going, very exciting.

    1. Speaking of painting - I've been watching a few videos on facebook about paint pours. Intriguing, but I keep thinking what a huge waste of paint!!
Yes, I always like this stage of landscape creation.

  2. It's like we saw the change of time on the old house change through your talented hands. I wouldn't have thought of creating the house first then adding the dilapidated boards later.

    1. It's all done in layers - or much of it is. There's layers of fabric and layers of colouring and layers of sealant.

  3. Awesome change in that doorway and those shadows from the supporting boards are so realistic.

    1. I always wonder about adding 'boards' and think they look awful until I add the stitching details to them.

  4. This is just looking fabulous Mary Anne. Interesting articles on painting onto fabric. I have never tried myself but I can see that it adds another dimension. Do you paint on your landscape fabrics? Christine xx

    1. Yes, I use paint on my landscapes - pencil crayons - whatever works to get the effect I want. I haven't tried water colours as yet but I hear they will work too.

    1. I agree that the scrap blanket is a great use for leftover yarns. You could make it as large as you wanted too.

    1. There's a ways to go before it's done but hopefully it's getting there. Even more hopeful that Glen ends up being happy with what I do!

  7. Well I can definitely see your changes on this layer. You are working miracles. I have watercolored on fabric and it works. Just remember watercolor dries softer and paler than when it is wet. Blissful April Dear…

    1. Thanks for that Sherry - I will add watercolours to my arsenal of possibilities for some areas. Do you seal it with anything?

  8. I'm really impressed with the shadows against the barn and the open roof beams visible through the windows. Well done!

  9. The house looks fabulous - I love this work you do, its beautiful. I went for a walk on a new-to-me path today and passed by some old barn-buildings... they have such a fascinating worn look to them and I was completely captivated by them so to see this here tonight was an added highlight to my day!

    1. Glad you enjoyed seeing my creation Jillayne. I find those old buildings are filled with inspiration and I don't see myself quitting making them anytime soon.
