Good eating and ornie update

The four little ornaments are ready to have the beading added but I have to wait for the mailman to deliver what I need.  I have tons of beads but they're all too large for these.

The white area around the outside will be trimmed away before they are finished with felt on the back.

The mailman very nicely left me a package that held a piece of this fabric...

...which I hope will work well with this fabric I got just  a little while ago...

...to make a little baby quilt.  Now I've let my fingers run amuck and I've ordered the coordinating 5" squares in the first fabric line to bring the panel up to the size I need for a baby quilt.  I love both these fabrics and I'm pretty sure our daughter-in-love and #2 son will be happy with it.

Resident Chef made this recipe and it's definitely a winner.  Good  for breakfast OR you could serve it with a dollop of ice cream for a dessert.  Good either way!

CRÈME BRULEE BAKED OATMEAL
2 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
2 T. butter, melted    ½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. baking soda   ¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon        1 ½ c. milk
1 c. vanilla yogurt            2 eggs
2/3 c. brown sugar, divided
350 degrees – 9” square pan. Combine all
but 1/3 c. brown sugar.  Cover pan with foil &
bake 20 mins.  Remove foil and bake another 25
mins.  Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar & broil
3 – 5 mins.

I like the recipe. Reading to the next line after the instructions, I thought you were highlighting the Resident Chef as the "quite adorable fellow."

    1. A new baby simply can't go without a quilt! And an afghan (or two)....and several sweaters....and hats....and toys. I do take my grandmotherly duties quite seriously! And yes, Resident Chef is outstanding in the cooking department.

    1. Ornaments don't take a long time to stitch, luckily. While I wait for the 5" fabric squares to arrive I have to start thinking about how I'm going to actually make the quilt. Not being a sane quilter has drawbacks! Hope your oven is soon in working order!

    1. You're right - yes, the top left one is for the baby. She won't need it for another year but I was on a roll and figured I might as well keep going and do hers too.

    1. Yes, I'm having altogether too much fun with making the ornies - soon going to have to stop and switch gears though.

  7. Your sweet stitcheries are so cute! And that fabric is beautiful. The two prints look like they were made for each other. Can't wait to see that quilt come together.

    1. Yes, I thought those two fabrics should be together too - and it turns out our daughter-in-love loves them so it's a win/win (or at least I hope it will be once the quilt is done!)

  8. I love those fabrics Mary Anne. What a lovely quilt they will make! Never can understand how we all manage to have large stashes of items but when needed, they are never the right size.... colour.... etc! The ornaments are going to look fabulous! Hugs Christine xx

    1. My stash lacks something when it comes to cottons for quilts so I wasn't surprised when I couldn't come up with anything that would blend. Good thing there's online shops happy to send things!

  9. I like the baby quilt fabrics.....a nice change from pink, blue, or yellow! Those monster eyeballs look like a fun project to do with my Grand-daughters......might so grab some of that foam.......it would be nice if they had fluorescent glow-in-the dark foam.....hmmmmmm.......

    1. Our kids aren't 'in' to the traditional baby colours although pink in this case is acceptable to a degree. Mixing it with grey and green makes it okay. As for the glow-in-the-dark foam question - could you buy a little tube of glow-in-the-dark paint and paint the foam???

  10. Your Cookie Ornaments are so cute. Always the case...no beads the right size! How is it possible?! Love these fabrics for the baby quilt. YUM! I will definitely try this oatmeal recipe. Today is the first day of Fall/Autumn. Cooler days ahead...

    1. Beads and buttons - you'd think, with my extensive stash of both items, that I'd have exactly what I need every single time. Such seems to not be the case lately.
