First of all, I made these pillowcases over the weekend for three little 'grandies' who just need to have something fun to sleep on. I used the burrito method from THIS great tutorial.
Second, the mailman brought me a wonderful parcel all the way from the US stuffed full of wonderful buttons for my collection and inspiration. The little green frogs are already in a baggie with some baby yarn to make a wee sweater. Thank you Liz - you know I'll find a use for all of these!!!!
Today's quote...."Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant with the weak and wrong. Sometime in your life, you will have been all of these"
You're welcome, I'm sure! So glad they're going to be used and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThey might not get used right away but eventually!!
DeleteLove those ornaments. And I love those RAOK ideas. Going to have to give that more thought.
ReplyDeleteI think the RAOK's would be a fun thing to do - might try it over the winter.
DeleteI forgot to say that I love the pillow cases - what a great idea for the littles!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to make them a new pillowcase every year for Christmas...a tradition perhaps.
DeleteI love your pillowcases! Sorta puts me in the mood to make some myself!
ReplyDeleteGo for it! They don't take long to do and that pattern makes it pretty straight forward.
ReplyDeleteCute buttons!! Love the frogs and ladybugs.
ReplyDeleteLast winter I played Secret Santa to the widows and older ladies on our street. Tied scarves to the fences with Christmas wishes. I also took a bag of scarves to one of our senior residences and left a card telling them it was from their Secret Santa. It was so much fun. This year I will leave a bag of scarves at another senior residence with the same message.
Cute pillow cases as well.
God bless.
What a lovely thing for you to do! I'm sure those scarves were very well received and I'm sure there was lots of speculation about their origin.
DeleteNice pillowcases. Our guild makes these for children in hospitals. Interesting link using candy to dye silk.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great community service to make pillowcases for kids in those circumstances....great idea! I'm not so sure I'd ever try the candy dye idea but at least it would use candy that I don't like in the first place.
DeleteThe boys will love the Xstitches. I like the Pillow cases and RAOK idea - good way to destash the craftroom. I love the bottle caps but don't fancy sitting on metal ones in shorts, come summer. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm snickering thinking about the pleats you'd get in your backside from the bottle caps. I would think they must use resin to fill around them but what do I know!!
DeleteLove the pillow cases! My Grands are always happy with a new pillow case from Nana. What a sweet parcel you received from your friend. In this day of email and computer it is always such a delight to receive something in snail mail......What a beautiful quote! Good words and thoughts to ponder.........
ReplyDeleteThe pillow cases are such fun to make and fast too, so they make great gifts. I suspect a new pillowcase every year is going to become a tradition.
DeleteThe ornaments turned out great! Might I add to put your name and year on back. 30 years from now they will adore that info.
ReplyDeleteGood idea! I had thought of that earlier but forgot to do so. Thank you!
DeleteI've used that method for pillowcases before too and they go together in no time! Yours are great and I am sure they will be loved. As will the ornaments which also look great. Hope all well there! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a great way to make pillowcases! Thanks Christine.
