Having to get up at dark thirty in the morning to go grocery shopping means I get to watch the sunrise.  Sort of.  This is what our sky looked like and it's obvious that the fires out west are affecting our skies here as well.  Very eerie looking!

Although this doesn't look all that exciting, here's what I've been working on....

This will be for our #3 grandson.  Right now I'm stitching the embellishments which are really difficult to see in this photo.  Lots of beads and some little Christmas charms will make it a little more interesting.  I hope!

Today's quote "Your life is your garden.  Your thoughts are the seeds.  If your life isn't awesome, you've been watering the weeds"

  1. Prayers all are well, and breathing good. The skies are eerie with the smoke. Please take care to watch out for any problems the smoke might cause
The pocket bear is adorable! And the embroideries, amazing.
Watering the weeds! I laugh at myself for tilting the watering can too far into the weeds. Great quote.

    1. So many things to pray for right now, that's for sure. The smoke in this area is high in the sky and not down where it's causing breathing issues, not like it is in so many areas out west.
We all have to be careful we're not watering too many weeds!

  2. Cute gift for your grandson--i think he will just be fascinated with it and love it...
Nice work what kind of little charms are you going to put on it? I love embellishments...
I am working on a strippy roll up right now and this afternoon will be making
suffolk puffs (yo-yos) to embellish it--I have added some lace--and need to baste the fabrics down...
    Phew--this was hard for me..but fun...I haven't posted it as yet...hugs, Julierose

    1. I'm putting some buttons, beads and small Christmas-y charms onto it, just to add a little interest and sparkle. It will be up to our son and daughter-in-love to fill it with goodies, whether it be little toys or treats.

    1. Her work is amazing isn't it. I can't imagine working quite that small and being able to include so many details.

  4. I love the Christmas quilt for your Grandson....Is it a "count down to Christmas mat? My sis who lives in Arizona actually took a photo of a PINK sun because of the smoke from the California fires. My heart goes out to those who are suffering because of the fires. My son made some photo coasters for me several years ago but I don't use them as coasters because I hate putting anything on the faces....lol

    1. It's actually a wall hanging size - about 20" square. 24 little pockets that our son and daughter-in-love can fill with little treats for our grandson to count down to Christmas. There will be another one (different design) coming for their other son.
I don't think I'd be putting hot mugs or wet glasses onto those photo coasters either, but they would look nice as decorative elements.

  5. You've made a very joyful Advent Calendar, MA. It's going to be exciting for your GS to investigate daily.
The links are all great. I use glass coasters- the photos are under the glass so are not damaged.I need more glass coasters. I'll just 'have to' make some pocket bears.
I hope everyone will be safe from those fires. I was fortunate to have been out of range of the Au fires and the heavy smoke in our area produced the same sun/murky sky.

    1. Can't have my grandsons without an advent calendar! Or a Christmas stocking either. It's a grandmother's job, isn't it? I think those pocket bears are going on my list to make too. Fun for 'grands' to carry with them.

    1. It's very hard to believe that the smoke is reaching this far but when you look at a map and realize just how many fires are burning it stands to reason. Scary stuff!

  8. The link to the map coasters has me rethinking using all my old maps as gift wrap. :)

    1. Maps are simply too good to throw out so finding a use for them is a good thing. Gift wrap would be perfect!
