Cool

I could have entitled this post 'HOT' but I'm choosing to think cool thoughts.  Mind over matter and all that.  Yesterday it was really *cool* and I didn't manage to do a darned thing but sit and enjoy the *cool*.  Today just might be more of the same.  So...because of all that *cool* there isn't a photo of any progress on anything to share with you today.  I'm sorry.  (Just to let you know how cool it is - current temperature is 84F with a humidity level of 30% and it's not quite 10 in the morning.

Sounds as though the wearing of masks is becoming mandatory here and that's a good thing, despite the fact that I hate them and have a hard time wearing them.  Many of the beaches are closing down simply to stop the tourists and their insistence on over crowding and leaving their messes behind for locals to have to deal with.  It's understandable but yet on the other hand it's making the few areas that are still open grossly overcrowded which only leads to more issues.  There are two sides to everything and honestly I don't know what the answer is.  I know if I lived in a hot city I would want to get out and enjoy nature and the beaches (although when it's this *cool* I can't possibly imagine why anyone in their right mind would think sitting on *cool* sand in the *cool* sun would be the least bit enticing).  There was a report on the news last night that they were parking on side streets because they're not allowed to park near the beaches and to the degree that they were entirely filling the streets to emergency vehicles couldn't get through.  That's endangering the lives of the local residents and flagrant disregard for the law.  I don't know - it seems this pandemic is bringing out the worst in a lot of people.

Today's quote is from James Dent..."A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken"

  1. Hi Mary Anne
Ha ha - I like the comment!
My goodness, hexies of a quarter of an inch! I just don't think I could get my clumsy fingers around something that tiny!!

    1. I can't imagine hexies that small either. I think mine at about 2" (less actually) are quite small enough.

  2. Thanks once again for these great links. I just made hexies for the first time and I am hooked so was very interested in Miss Leela's site and her tutorials. You landscape textile artists are so talented.

    1. Maybe you and I have been assimilated into the world of hexies? Not a bad place to be.

  3. My 2¢...Like you, I don't get how sitting on hot sand is worth the short dip in the water. I've don't it myself even as an adult many years ago. Today it is not on my want to do list.
Crowd parking in neighborhoods is thoughtless and inconsiderate.

    1. The idea of driving miles to go and sit on hot sand in the baking sun is not my idea of fun, for sure. I wouldn't dare do such a thing anyway because the sun and I don't get along particularly well. I would itch for days afterwards and it's simply not worth the angst.

  4. wow 84 degrees sounds pretty nice...actually it is 87 here right now but I hear we might see 101 later today. Wow that fractured panel pattern looks awesome! Just what I need...to start a new project when I am really trying to get some of my UFO's done.....but I am definitely putting that on my "to do" list........

    1. It's summer and we should expect this and for the most part I'm okay with it. Just wish we would get some rain to help out the poor farmers and their crops. Sorry to be an enabler (re the panel idea).

    1. At least there's a nice breeze today which is rather pleasant, albeit still *cool*. Hope the storm passes you by, but gives you a nice rain. Still no sign of any here.

  6. It was 33C here today and not a breeze. Hope the heat eases up in the next day or so for you! Thanks for the links. Those tiny hexies are something else.

    1. I know I couldn't handle making those teeny little hexies - too small for me! The ones I'm doing are small enough. Hope your weather cools off for you too.

  7. Before this heatwave we've been having, I wouldn't have considered 84 cool, but we're also having a few cooler days before heading back into the 90's next week. Perspective is a wonderful thing. 84 degrees sounds almost glorious.

    1. 84 degrees sounds about perfect - to me anyway. BUT - having said that, there's 84 degrees and then there's the added interest of the humidity level which makes it feel 10-15 degrees hotter. We get a lot of humidity here.

  8. Yes ...*cool* and *dry*. I can't see the lure of a northern Ontario beach on a hot day unless you sit neck high in the water and you can do that in a bath tub. Loved the panel idea and the comment. Those mini hexies are too small for all thumbs me :)

    1. ...and the bath tub isn't out in the hot sun!!! Overcast here this morning (Saturday) and there was a teeny little dampening of rain overnight. Not enough to do much good though.

  9. We can convince our minds of many things...*cool* is just right for these summer days. Interesting how a fabric panel all cut up can become such an amazing quilt/wall hanging. Aah the perfect *cool* summer day. Blissfull.

  10. That quote is a perfect interpretation of what I would like to go on around here, but inevitably someone is running the lawnmower, or the leafblower, or the weed whacker. I think there should be a time when all the machines are off so we can enjoy the rest of the day.

    1. We seem to be so bombarded with noise all the time and you're right - there SHOULD be a time when all machines are off.

  12. we have exactly the same issues here and I am not like you....I definitely don't understand. What part of stay home do people not get??? and the small communities they are travelling to are overwhelmed...selfish I call it....and that's my complaint for the day ha ha.
Hot there? pouring rain here...although I don't like hot either.
I hope you and yours are well...take care... xxxx

    1. Yes, people can be selfish that's for sure. At least we're not as bad as in some areas where there is complete and total blatant disregard for the directives set out by the authorities. Today the ruling comes down locally where masks must be worn when indoors in a public place - we'll see how well that goes over in the larger centers. Cooler today here after having received a nice rain.
