And so it begins....ad nauseum.....

Yes, the post title says it all.  I don't have OCD but I'm obsessed with doing landscapes and I don't see it ending anytime soon.  Good thing I intersperse other things into the mix or I'd seriously run the risk of becoming boring.  Now, don't bother to make a comment on THAT statement because I already know I'm boring and you won't be telling me anything I'm not well aware of!  At least I am nothing if not predictable!

So...without further mumbling, here is the next photo that will be subjected to my play time....

The pile of hexie flowers is growing too....

Sorry about the washed out bit on the right - a
patch of sun on my floor

And speaking of the sun - and heat.  We've been having several very hot days here and this year, here at Chez Magpie, it's proving to be quite the juggling act to keep cool.  Our apartment faces east so we get the morning sun and we keep the windows covered to keep it out as much as possible.  In the living room we have a portable a/c unit and also a tower fan which we aim down the hall towards the bedroom and my sewing room.  There's another tower fan in the doorway of my sewing room which helps to aim the cooler air into my workspace.  Then we have ceiling fans in both the bedroom and the sewing room.  Well this year, for reasons entirely unknown, we apparently don't dare run the a/c and the two tower fans alongside my ceiling fan OR the bathroom light without blowing a fuse.  I've never been able to plug in my iron with the a/c unit running since the day we moved here.  Why we suddenly have to either piddle in the dark OR remember to turn off the a/c before we use the bathroom is a complete mystery.  And of course the building management just says well don't run the a/c because it's drawing too much power.  But - it never was an issue before!!!?????  Resident Chef thinks I'm a conspiracy theorist because I suspect the entire issue has developed because they installed 'hydro usage meters' in all the units last year...supposedly to monitor our usage.  I wonder if it reaches a certain level of usage it triggers something that blows the fuse.  Just my theory which he thinks is ridiculous.

Today's quote is from Walter Winchell..."It's a sure sign of summer if the chair gets up when you do"

    1. Yes, you're right - I do smile (most of the time!) when I'm making a landscape. Keeps me busy and off the streets (and out of the stores).

    1. The main colours for the hexies are purples and greens so there's going to be a lot of them. Haven't decided whether to use white or off white for the background but the moment I'm leaning towards off white. Yes, trying to stay cool - you too!

  3. Love the hexies. All my favourite colours. That truck is perfect for one of your hangings :)

The work of Corrine Young is amazing. So realistic and doesn't need watering.

    1. Watering keeps Resident Chef busy these days and all we have is a few plants on the balcony. Purples and greens are high on my list of favourite colours too so I'm happy to be working with them.

  4. You and your blog are anything but boring. And you were right, I’m already salivating over the next landscape with the old truck. I’ll be watching you work your magic!

  5. Problems with electric when the A/C is running, I believe does have something to do with the buildings electrical set up. If nothing else is on in my small apartment but the A/C, and I turn on the stove, the breaker for the A/C group goes off. That shouldn't happen.

    1. It wouldn't surprise me if the problem is with the electrical in our building. They were built over 50 years ago and the wiring should be replaced. For reasons unknown most of the entire one side of our apartment is on the same fuse - not everything though, so it's confusing. Then, just to add more interest, the bathroom which is on the OTHER side is on that same fuse. No rhyme nor reason to any of it. 50 years ago we didn't need a/c like we do now so it wasn't an issue.

    1. Dale shares some wonderful photos with me so I'm never lacking for ideas to create. Looks like it will be another hot one today so we'll continue to juggle with the fuse box.

  7. Boring? Sigh. Okay... I will not try to convince you otherwise, but I want you to know I'm very excited to see you doing another vehicle! This will be fun. :)

    1. I'm kind of excited about the vehicle too - hopefully it will turn out the way I envision. If not, I'll rip it off and start over!

  8. You...boring....NEVER!! Gosh, it sounds as if you have a lot of contraptions there trying to keep you cool. The electrics situation doesn't sound 'tickety-boo' at all. You piddling in the dark is fine but the Resident Chef???? =) Love the thought of a new landscape with an old truck as the star. Just a little aside, do you know that me, down here at the bottom of the world, doesn't even own a fan....nor air conditioning. We just don't seem to ever need it, but then my name is called 'Eskimo Nell'. Have a great day, lovely Mary Ann, AND, try to keep cool.

    1. Yes, lots of contraptions! It's a definite juggling act here at Chez Magpie at the moment. A lot of people don't understand how we can live without central air conditioning but we get along okay with our system - provided we remember not to do anything to trip the fuse. Our heat waves here don't usually last more than a few days at a time so it's not too bad.

  10. So excited to see another landscape on the horizon. I love seeing them, so keep them coming! Sounds like quite a juggling act you have to do to keep cool and I hope that you get to the bottom of why the fuses keep blowing.... don't doubt your gut feelings about what might be causing the problem.... you are probably right! Hugs Christine xx

    1. Glad you like them Christine, thank you. Unfortunately there's not much we can do about the fuses situation beyond being diligent about what we try to turn on at the same time. There's nothing the management can (or would) do unless they replace the wiring in the entire building. Can't see that happening anytime soon.

  11. Looking forward to seeing your new landscape. Will you be attempting the reflection in the water too? I used that mask template for our masks and find them very comfortable. Basically because I couldn't find elastic. I ordered long shoelaces as ties.

    1. The reflection in the water is what's giving me pause for thought on this one. I'm afraid to attempt it and might just opt to leave it out. We'll see when I get to that point what I decide to do. At the moment I'd like to give it a try with the thought that I can always start that section over if it doesn't work.
