Block 2

I made a start at the next block for my crazy quilt over the weekend.  I'm still not sure about the colours I'm using for the embroidery but I'm looking on this project as a learning curve.  Hopefully I will learn to use colour schemes that are not my norm and that I might just grow to like them.

Below are the colours I pulled from my stash
using the Color Tool as my guide...

Resident Chef has started his garden and has a few tomato seedlings bravely trying to grow in the window sill.  At this point who knows if we'll be able to track down enough potting soil to put them out on the balcony, but here they are for now...

And...because I talk about my beloved Resident Chef so much, perhaps you'd like to see him...

This is a really difficult puzzle so it will
keep him occupied for awhile!

And, instead of a quote today....

Stay safe, stay well.

  1. I made a comment and hit the wrong button. Second try: I love that color combo. It's grouping that came into fashion in the 1930s after Tutankhamen's tomb was found. It's about sky and sand and the Nile. I'd work that in an instant!

  3. Love the link to crocheting bookmarks. Small projects are nice to keep by the TV clicker.
Your resident Chef has a nice smile.

    1. Bookmarks never come amiss in this household (mainly because they go 'miss-ing' (pun intended!) a lot. Resident Chef does have a nice smile (and beautiful blue eyes too, but maybe I'm prejudice?!)

  4. Oops, I forgot to ask if you've considered a light lavender thread for the embroidery?

    1. ummm - I've already used a shade of lavender (bottom middle seam) and if you look really hard in the box of thread options there are a couple more in there waiting their turn. Must admit that purple/lavender are shades I would have used with the green anyway...it's the orange that gives me pause!

    2. I see the lavender now. Not easy with orange to find the right tone.

  5. It is good to know that Resident Chef's time will be occupied between cooking for you and enjoying jigsaw puzzles at this time. Isn't it strange that soil is hard to track down in these troubled times. The simple little things such as getting soil to plant seeds have all of a sudden become a mammoth task. I could send you some in the post, but I have a feeling it wouldn't get through customs. =) Ooh....another crazy quilt pretty stitched by you. This is going to be fun seeing what you have dramed up, each time.

    1. Resident Chef is happy in the kitchen, working on his puzzle and reading so I know he's doing okay. As for getting soil, not sure it will be hard to track down but finding a store that's open to sell it might be another question. Thank you for the thought of sending some in the mail (can you imagine the weight that would be??) and you're quite right, customs might just have something to say about it.

  6. Pretty colors. Looks like that puzzle will take some time. I wonder how many people have pulled out puzzles to do at this time. I know I did. I like those bookmarks - may have to give one or two a try. Stay well.

    1. I think a lot of people might be doing puzzles right now. This one has very oddly shaped pieces and it's proving to be really difficult so he'll be awhile putzing with it I think. Bookmarks are always a good thing, considering how quickly we manage to misplace them!

    1. Staying home isn't so much of a hardship for us creative types - we can always find something to keep us occupied. I know I will never be bored anyway!

  8. I love the combination of orange and green. It is not a garish tone at all. The seams are pretty too.
The Resident Chef has a cheeky smile and looks happy doing the puzzle.
Thanks for the links. I've saved the bookmark one. I have several dozen but both DH and I use a bit of paper or thread instead...never a bookmark when you need one here.
Cute quote! I hope You, the RC and Everyone who visits here remains safe.

    1. I'm still not sure about the orange but will wait and see what the overall block looks like when it's done. It's going in the quilt anyway, whether I like it or not! I know what you mean about bookmarks being elusive when you need one. Resident Chef has a magnetic one (actually had a box full of them at one time) and he manages to keep track of it fairly well.

  10. Interesting colors for your green block dear. Fresh grown tomatoes are the best. Resident Chef looks happy with his puzzle. Little Piggy is definitely staying home.

    1. The tomato plants were from seeds he harvested from plants our son out west was growing last year. He thought he'd try drying them and see if they would grow. So far, so good!

  11. Your chef looks like a chef! He would look very official in a white apron and one of those white chef's hats. :) I like the colors of embroidery floss you've got picked out there for this square. The square looks blue to me, but some of the comments above makes me wonder if the colors on my monitor are correct. Is it blue or green? I confess the graphic above took me a moment. But only a moment. And now I can't stop giggling...

    1. I might be able to convince him to wear the apron but he'd draw the line at the hat. The block is actually a nice soft green in real life - funny that it would be blue on your monitor. Glad the piggy picture made you giggle!

    1. I like the jig-sawer, but the puzzles aren't huge on my list of things to do I'm afraid.
