I've started working on a new landscape, this time featuring a grain elevator. As the post title says - same, and yet different. This one is a winter scene so I have to play about with trying to create snow. This is the original photo I'm working from...

This weekend is our local quilt show, so several of my landscapes as well as a couple of my crazy quilt pieces are on display. Hopefully, if I can, I'll try to take a few pictures of the show to share with you.

Another fabulous landscape started; a great photo of the grain elevator. I look forward to seeing the progress of your snowy landscape. Yes please, some photos of your landscapes at the quilt show, would be lovely. How fun that your community can enjoy your landscapes and crazy quilt pieces. Now about that quote......I shall try to stop waiting for Summer. =)

DeleteLove your new project! Snow! I am sure everyone will love your Crazy Quilts and landscapes! Wish I could see them in person. A friend just had a stroke and it brought home the fragility of life. She will recover but......... enjoy every moment!
ReplyDeleteI am certainly not a lover of snow, but thought it would be a fun challenge to try to create it. At least it's warmer than the real thing! And yes, enjoy every moment - great words to live by.
DeleteI've done a few snow paintings - of trees, stone walls, an entire landscape - by painting everything BUT the snow. It's fun to look at them and suddenly "see" the snow :) I look forward to seeing how you go about sewing snow!
ReplyDeleteSewing snow - never thought of it in those terms, but I guess you're right! The snow doesn't worry me, but I'm facing having to free motion weeds and that is giving me pause for thought - particularly on PMS Albatross. Methinks there will be some hissy fits (hers AND mine) before I get it right.

ReplyDeleteIt's fun working with snow for a change - albeit this type is MUCH warmer than the real thing! No frostbite with this!
Deleteoh my goodness, you are so very good at piecing cloth, achieving the imagery you wish for with fabric...this is stunning.

DeleteI like the subject of this project. I remember seeing lots of these years ago on our cross country trek!! We loved the prairies.
ReplyDeleteThe old grain elevators are being replaced by metal and steel versions....not half so pretty!
