For a little change of pace!

I really don't know what else a grandma is to do when confronted with evidence that her grandson just so happens to be in like with dinosaurs at the moment.  I don't know how a grandma wouldn't spend considerable time scouting out patterns to make one....or how a grandma wouldn't then spend time searching the internet to find a copy of the pattern.  Yes, how can a grandma NOT make one of these...

Pretty much every little boy likes T'Rex's, so this is my version, from a now out-of-print McCall's pattern # 2577.  Oh....and this guy just happens to measure just about two feet tall.

Your quote for today..."You often feel tired, not because you've done too much, but because you've done too little of what sparks a light in you"

  1. The T-Rex looks like he's ready for some serious play time. He is seriously fabulous. Gosh, the yarn and bird nest story is informative and sad. Thank you for sharing it, Mary Anne.

    1. Hopefully he likes his T-Rex, but you never know with little kids. Sometimes they just hate something that you think they will love. Will have to wait and see! As for the bird/yarn information, I was surprised because like many people I thought it was a great idea.

  2. Very cute... from the picture I would never guessed he was 2ft tall. Hope your grandson is taller!

    1. Yes, he's definitely a bit taller than this guy. He's tall for his age anyway.

  3. What an adorable dinosaur! You are an awesome grandma. Thanks for the article about NOT putting yarn scraps out for birds. When the idea surfaces I think it sounds fun, but I've often wondered about it, too. Truth be told, though... what I usually wonder about is what happens to all that yarn when the nests naturally decompose. If there is any synthetic material in it, it's going to hang around long after the nest has fallen from its perch and broken up and decayed. That's not a pretty thought. Fortunately, while I've previously thought it a clever idea, I lack discipline to actually collect this kind of stuff so I've never done it. Now I can finally put the whole idea to rest. :)

    1. Good point about the synthetic content in yarn not breaking down - definitely will cause more issues than it's meant to help. Like you I always thought it was a good idea but never actually acted on it....now I'm glad I didn't!

  4. What a treat for your grandson! Nice work.
The crochet buttons are lovely, Queenie makes a similar button she calls Dorset.
Good quote, keep the sparks of life going.

    1. Someone is definitely trying to be a great Grandma although it's hard not to make everything I really would like to because I don't want to be the grandparent that showers them with gifts to the point it's too much.

    1. It's hopefully going in the mail tomorrow so I might know if he likes it the end of the week. His parents, on the other hand, might not be so thrilled with something else to add to his toy collection!!
