Virtual tour - part two

Before I give you the next part of the quilt show tour, I have a question for you.....can anyone recommend a decent photo-editing program that's free for use with Windows 10?  I don't need anything that's a Rolls Royce version....just free and easy to use.  Any thoughts??
*****************
Here are some more of the quilts that caught my eye at our local quilt show....enjoy! You can click on any of the pictures to embiggen them.

This one was my absolute favourite - I know it doesn't
show very well in the photo, but please embiggen
the label so you can read more about it.....

Today's quote..."I'm an artist and when you buy from me you are buying 100's of hours of failures and experiments.  You are buying a piece of my heart and soul, a moment of my life"

  1. Today's quotation is great! When people ask me how long did it take to make that, the real answer us: all my life up to now.

    1. I liked that quote too - and how true it is. I like your response too!

  2. I use GIMP, it's pretty powerful but I use very few features. But I know there's lots more that I can do with it if I ever need.

    1. Thank you for the recommend Vicki - I know I need to upgrade to something a tad more 'modern' than what I've been running and I know there are wonderful free ones out there - too many too chose from without some input from users.

  3. Oh my! What beauties. As I scrolled through the pictures I kept thinking "This is my favorite". "No, THIS is my favorite". Having an affinity for crocheted doilies at the moment, the appliqued doilies quilt is intriguing to me.. Would love seeing that in person. And I love all the glorious colors of the others. Hope you're enjoying yourself this week!

    1. Yes, there were some amazing quilts on display. Each visitor to the show was given a vote that would be used to choose 'the best in show' and that appliqued doily one got my vote. I loved it! btw - did you embiggen the 'story' below the photo to read about it? It's quite interesting.

  4. I use PHOTOSCAPE. Free download. It's actually comparable to the expensive Photoshop and I've missed very little of Photoshop since I lost the license when I retired from teaching. I originally found it when wanting to watermark my photos and downsize them in mass production for blogging. Then gradually I figured out how to brighten and do other things. I can offer some quick directions if need. I also like to use it to arrange a quilt block to see what they would look like. See my blog "DIY & Tech" how tos for some directions. Photoscape HELP site is very helpful too.
Thanks for showing more of your quilts.

    1. Thank you Joy - I will certainly look into this one. I don't need something that does what industry people need, but obviously need something a little more sophisticated than what I've been running. I use Windows 10 and my word processing program is Word 2007 - also just a tad out of date!!

The crochet shawl pattern is beautiful and I like it in all those colors.

    1. There will be another episode of the virtual tour coming up on Friday, so stay tuned. As for the shawl - I really like those colors too....I think that was what first caught my eye.

  7. More beautiful quilts, Mary Anne. Loved the story of the doily quilt. Loved the story of some of the doilies making the journey to Canada from Ireland two hundred years....amazing.

    1. I loved that doily quilt too and the story made it even more special. I don't suppose it won 'Best in Show', but to my mind it should have!

  9. Hi, here's another photo program to try. I've used it for years just to do minor stuff, and have been happy with it. I will admit that I haven't tried the Win10 version yet. https://download.cnet.com/IrfanView-64-bit/3000-2192_4-76444710.html I'm going to check out the other one recommended as well and give it a try

  10. Such beautiful quilts at your guild show. Excellent quote and should be displayed at every Artisan boutique and business card given out. So many “buyers” do not understand this...they merely want China’s crap.

    1. I thought it was a wonderful quote too - and oh so fitting for those of us who create things and hope to sell them so we can afford to continue to create. More quilts posted today and I think there will be one more post on Monday with the rest. I took more pictures than I thought!

  11. More fabulous quilts and I read all the details about your favourite. It is wonderful! I particularly liked the Quilted Treasures quilt, the colours are fabulous! I also like the quote of the day! Christine xx

    1. The Quilted Treasures was all cross stitched (I don't know if you noticed). I not only loved The Grandma's Doilies quilt, but also the story that accompanied it.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
