Dragon has arms (sort of)

Today I wrestled the curved needle into some form of submission and stitched his legs on. Once I got the hang of the needle it went fairly well. I don't care for the size of my stitches using that needle, but I'm not about to start over!

His arms in this picture are pinned on and I'm debating whether I like them where they are. I'm wondering about moving them a little further up, but then...if I do that....will he overbalance when his head goes on?

Oh yeah....and I wonder....do dragons wear bandaids? I moved his foot a little and one of the seams popped a little. A dab of Fray Check and some strategically placed paint will cover the problem I think. Lesson learned....make sure the feet are curved correctly earlier in the process! My fault...not Amy's.

PS...don't forget to tell me what you think his name should be. Scroll down to the previous post and cast your vote!

Hey MA...try using a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the curvy needle or tweezers if they are long enough. It gives you better control and more strength. What about Papillion? Is he going to have tiny wings?

  2. Oh...curved needles!!!
I have some small, curved sutcuring needles.
Do you have any idea how quickly they can cut through skin???? (well, DUH, Anne....) But they are marvelous for sewing things that are hard to manage....you just use pliers to pull them!
And I have a little more respect for the surgeons who use these things to reassemble bodies....there IS an art!
Name??? Oh something sappy like *Puff*.... ;) .....shows my age!
Amazing--I could never have made this, swearing or no! LOL!

    XXOO!!

  5. Hey i've been nagging you for months to get some practise on that curved needle. Good to see you've finally relented and found it. Try holding it about 1/3 of the way down and between thumb and middle finger, with index finger guiding it. That should do the trick. BTW, Dragon is starting to scare me! So it's working!
