I've been working on my fusion quilt and have to admit that it's at the rather boring stage. I'm busily building piles that look like this (note...they still need to be blocked so they look somewhat wonky)....
Each square starts out at 5" and is sewn together double-sided. Then I add a row of blanket stitches around the outside to create a base to crochet into. Finally there's a row of double crochets around each. All of these need to be done before I can start laying out the quilt to decide on placement of the squares before putting them together into the final project(s). I'm hoping to have enough to create a throw for the back of our living room couch as well as two smaller matching throws for the back of our chairs.
- There are several really pretty crochet afghan links HERE.
- There's a tutorial for a rather nice bag HERE.
- HERE you can find a tutorial for making yourself a quilted jacket.
- THIS is a really pretty cowl design that would make great gifts.
Today's quote..."Two things to remember in life: Take care of your thoughts when you are alone and take care of your words when you are with people"
This looks like a great way to make a quilt. The variety of having several different steps, and then the fun of arranging the squares for assembling.
ReplyDeleteI like that it's both a quilt and an afghan - best of both worlds!
DeleteSorry, I apparently left an anonymous comment! Didn't even know I could do that.
ReplyDeleteI've done that a few times too Quinn - no worries!
DeleteYour Fusion blocks are looking so pretty; I really like the color yarn you are using--this will be so lovely...
ReplyDeleteIt will look so lovely displayed on your chair back...hugs, Julierose
I'm hoping to make three of them - one larger for the back of the couch and two smaller ones for the back of our chairs. We'll see if that plan works after I get all the blocks done and laid out.
DeleteLooking good, The prints are cheery. Link to the wavy afghan is bookmarked. Thank you. I’ve wanted to make that pattern for years.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of different prints in this line of fabric so I picked one of the greens from the multi-coloured 'base' fabric to use for the crocheting. Hope you make the wavy afghan and show pictures!
DeleteOh cool! Never thought of doing that but my crocheting is technically not crocheting at all! I call it "fancy fuzzy yarn work" because fuzzy yarn doesn't show the fact that I can't keep my tension consistant! Since I really only do it for trim around my little door hangers and pillows, it doesn't matter what I call it! It works for my purposes!
ReplyDeleteWhatever works is good!
DeleteI love these! I don't have talent for these things, but I really enjoy seeing your creations and progress!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda - it's a fun project that will suit our newly painted living room (once the painter gets here, that is)
DeleteSometimes a Fusion quilt can become boring. =) I LOVE those fabrics and isn't the green yarn a perfect choice?? If I know you, you'll have the finished pretties done in next to no time.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's at the boring stage right now but the end of that part is in sight so then I'll have the fun of putting it together.
DeleteThose are gorgeous colours. I do hope you have enough fabric to make all that you want to make.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I hope so too! I might have to make the crochet joins a little wider than I anticipate but won't know until I lay everything out.
