I'm wondering if I'm quite sane (and no, you don't need to chime in on that!!) to cut a small mountain of 5" fabric squares and then sew them together, do a blanket stitch around for a base and then crochet around each block. The piles I thought I had have multiplied ten-fold and now I have these on my sewing table.
Some are sewn together but most are waiting their turn under the needle on the sewing machine and then hours of hand stitching before I can crochet them together. Methinks this is going to be a long, long, long project!
- I'm not sure that I like THESE because I think they're rather creepy but in a cute way. But....while I was there I saw THIS and you know I'd like it. I would recommend a poke through all the categories on her site...so many interesting things to see and try (go HERE for her home page)
- I guess it's never too soon to think about Christmas ornaments and THIS caught my eye. I've seen them made from fabric but never paper.
- THESE would be most welcome for those who feel the cold or for people in nursing homes.
Today's quote..."Let's be good to people for no reason, simply because kindness can make someone's day a little brighter"

This reminds me of the little bag of linen squares I have, waiting to be stitched and crocheted... You're certainly further on, and more ambitious.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get a wild hare to do something I get on it. Sadly I know myself well enough that by the time I get about half way through there will start to be many squirrel moments.
DeleteGood on you getting all that cutting done--it does look like a long term project--that'll be good through the Winter months....
ReplyDeleteVery windy here today with that cold front sweeping over us--expecting really low temps tomorrow...hugs, Julierose
Once the cutting and machine stitching is done I can pick it up and work on it anywhere. It will keep me busy for awhile I think.
DeleteI read your last post and totally empathized. But there is always help on the web if you have access to another computer. I have AI generated now on permanently as it is so fast. Lovely fabrics here and I'm the same, content with undertaking lots of cutting and stitching...crocheting added will be wonderful. I will enjoy seeing that. Take Care, J
ReplyDeleteQuite truthfully AI scares me so I generally try to avoid it. In this case it did prove to be helpful. I think my new project will prove to be a long term one so hopefully I don't get too bored with it.
Deletei am just about convinced that there won't be a fusion quilt in my future - my wrists thank you ... bwah ha ha!!!
ReplyDeleteI originally purchased 10" pre-cut squares and decided they would be too big so I cut them down to 5"...I think going to 6" or even 7" squares would be better, but too late now.
DeleteYou did a wonderful job getting the cutting done! Lovely fabrics.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of cutting for sure but I spread it out to save wear and tear on my hands.
DeleteIt's going to be a great winter project!
ReplyDeleteI'd really like it to be done before winter truly hits because I plan to snuggle under it when it's cold (such is the hope anyway)
DeleteNow that is going to be a great deal of work. The end result will be wonderful though.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I hope it will be worth the work....at least slow stitching is supposed to be a good thing.
DeleteHi MA: Looking forward to seeing them all stitched together. Thank-youi for the links.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Me too! And you're welcome.
DeleteA fusion quilt of 5" squares with crochet dancing around each square is well......insane. =)
ReplyDeleteYep - I'm insane. I know it, and keep having to prove it over and over again. Fortunately these projects aren't full-sized bed quilts.
DeleteI start a project like that and suddenly it feels like it will take forever, but I love seeing it come together bit by bit. Those little creepy-cute squares sound fun, and I bet the finished blanket will be amazing. The Christmas ornaments idea makes me want to start something crafty too.
ReplyDeleteIt already feels like it will take forever but I'm trying to do eight squares each day so hopefully that will get 'er done before too long.
DeleteOne of our guild's recent charity projects was making quilted hugs. At last night's meeting the liaison to the local organization (cancer treatment patients in this case) read a thank you note. Good luck with your 5" squares !
ReplyDeleteI thought quilted hugs would be such a great community project and obviously your guild has proven it to be so.
