Sorry about awol-ism

So sorry I didn't manage to get a post together ready for my normal Wednesday routine but we were still in a state of upheaval here at Chez Magpie.  We pretty much have everything back where it belongs now and we're glad of it.  We're really happy with how the painting job turned out and were surprised that the painter and his helper managed to do the entire thing in one day - two coats.  That's what happens when you hire pros!

- I don't know if any of you are interested in wet felting, but perhaps THIS would be of interest.

- There's a really nice quilt-a-long for a lovely Christmas project happening and the information can be found HERE.

- If you have a bunch of t-shirts you hate to part with, perhaps THIS project will be just what you need.

- THIS and THIS are for the littles in your life that might be fans of  the Bluey tv show.

Today's quote...."A fact is objective information.  An opinion is a personal belief.  Ignorance is a lack of facts, and stupidity is a rejection of facts in favor of opinions"

  1. I'm glad the painting went well. This is a tenant responsibility? I had thought management did that. But it's a long time since I was a tenant.

    1. Management only paints when a tenant moves out - they don't otherwise. If we did manage to convince them to paint , the job wouldn't be a good one and it wouldn't be in a colour we wanted. I don't know about other apartment buildings that have other ownership but here they don't do much once you're in.

  2. Oh how true is that quote; and unfortunately, these days we find ourselves in the "stupidity" wars!!!:((((
....Glad your painting got done so quickly--that's a nice bonus...hugs, Julierose

    1. Yes, we were expecting the painting to be a two-day enterprise but with two of them painting it went much faster than we thought.

    1. Yes, one day for all that painting was a pretty impressive feat we thought.

    1. We're glad it's done after more than two years waffling over it!

    1. I'm glad they did too! Took us more time to get things ready for them and then put it all back than it did for the painting itself.

  7. when we get to the basement, I think we're going to hire decorators, as I like that your guys were able to get it done in one day.

    1. We certainly don't regret hiring someone and would do it again if we ever decide we need anything else painted.

  8. I must have missed you were going to paint the interior. Indeed, it's a mess when work is on, glad they finished in one day. What color did you choose? I'm sure it looks nice.

    1. We chose a nice soft sage-y green which is quite different from the mid-toned taupe we had before. It certainly looks a lot brighter.

  9. That's fantastic! I didn't know it was possible to do two coats in one workday. But then I don't know much about the current state of paint...it was quite a shock recently when I bought a quart of paint for some wooden items, and it cost thirty dollars! For a QUART!

    1. Yes, paint is terribly expensive these days. I don't know how much this cost because the painter picked it up. I do know he used the better part of two gallons. I overheard him say to his helper that using a good quality paint means they can get two coats on in a day and that they wouldn't have been able to do that had we not chosen the 'good' stuff. I had no clue we picked the 'good' paint, just that it had the colour I wanted.

  10. wet felting idea is cool, I used to do that but it's a whole different set of supplies. Your quote is perfect, just so on the mark, I feel I need to include it in my I Like post next week. Too many people confuse rhetoric and propaganda for facts, then rant it at me as if.... sorry I still believe in facts y'all. Oh the intensity of people quoting RFK jr to me....

    1. I've never attempted wet felting but it looks as though it would be fun.
Glad you appreciated that quote. It certainly resonated with me.

  11. I am not good with painting (walls, that is) so I'm with you about hiring it out! But the displacement unsettles me.

    1. I used to rather enjoy painting but not now. This getting older isn't fun sometimes!
