For those who might be interested, we had a nice couple of days 'off' visiting our family in their new city. It was a long drive (over 5 hours to get there) but worth the trip. I think they've made a good move and have gotten out of a high crime city where it's not a great place to raise our grandson. They have a lovely apartment in a small building and we also got to check out the restaurant where our son found a job.
Ok folks, here is the completed landscape! You will note that the outside border changed quite substantially from the narrow black I had before and I think this is much better (you can scroll back to my previous post to see what it looked like before). This one was created as a commission and I'm hopeful the purchasers will be happy with it.

DeleteGreetings MA: It is so good to hear that they were able to move to a safer place, I lived in Minneapolis when we got married my husband asked if I still wanted to live in Minneapolis, nope get me out of the crime ridden are and out to the country, love it now after 48 years. Your quilt is beautiful , the border is perfect.

Yes, it seems their new place is far safer than where they were previously so we (and they) are hugely relieved. Our son's job situation has improved too so it's a win on more than one front.

DeleteThe landscape turned out so well -- the quilted rays in the sky are a nice touch. Thanks for the reminder about that scrappy quilt--I printed that off a long time ago. I've got lots of 1.5 x 3.5 strips on hand.

awwww, thank you Julierose. I'm wanting to do another mountain scene at some point because I enjoyed the last one. Just have to find a good photo to work from.

That you continue to make one beautiful landscape after another is amazing to me. I think I would have to sit and marvel at what was completed for months, if not years, before finding what I needed inside myself to make another.
