Cracks in my decking?

Yes, there's nearly six hours of stitching on the deck boards in this landscape - and they're still not done.  I took a photo and I'd be willing to bet you can barely SEE the stitching

For context, the single board tucked up beneath the chair hasn't been stitched yet.  Yes, your Magpie is obsessed and some would say quite looney.  Methinks they might not be far wrong!

- If you live in the US, perhaps you might like to take part in THIS project.

- Have a peek through the galleries of THIS incredible artist!

- If you're planning to do any preserving over the next while and thinking about giving some of it as gifts, perhaps you'd like to add THESE.

- THIS looks like it would be such fun to try!

Today's quote is by William Wilson (sorry, but I might have shared this one before?)..."We are living in a day where people are proud of what they should be ashamed of"

  1. You are right about my not seeing the stitches--BUT you know they're there and they please you, so that is what really counts in the end, right? I am happy to hear that I am not the only (obsessed??) one who does stuff like that;)))
Hugs for a good upcoming week...Julierose

    1. I like to add the texture of the stitching onto the 'boards' because then they (hopefully) look more realistic. Really wish that texture showed up better in the picture though.

  2. I echo Julierose's comment. ♥️

Sherryofcreateology: Hello Dear. Your Red Chair is coming along nicely. I agree the stitching on the floorboards does really give them texture and a sense of real wood. I adore the onion skin papers. Your quote is just like what I have been saying, “The former forbidden is now the accepted norm”. Example: Wearing a bra and thong under a see through dress. Remember when an “Itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bikini” was too risqué? Next I fear we will all be raised by Salamanders and be naked and look identical.

    1. Now THAT's an interesting thought (being raised by salamanders)!!

  4. Made the picture bigger and man that is a great deal of stitching going on. You have much more patience than me.

    God bless.

    1. Yep - lots of stitching! Ended up close to 7 hours just on the deck 'boards' alone.

  5. Well I for one would certainly notice if there were NO stitches creating grain in the wooden boards. Gosh, that's not a looney attention to detail - I think it's one thing that makes your work so interesting to look at. I still think of you when my birch trees start to leaf out every year!

    1. That's the way I feel about adding so much stitching - it adds dimension and detail. Yes, it seems to take forever to do but once it's done it's all the difference.

  7. Hi MA:
I ABSOLUTELY CAN see your stitching! It's incredible, and your dedication (and perseverance) show! Thanks for the link to the Great American Birthday Project! I was unaware, but may create something for it now. I'll write a post about it soon, too, in case others are interested in participating. What a wonderful endeavor. I remember in the early 1990s, when I had my needlework shop we participated in the AIDS quilt project. Our submission was displayed with thousands of others in Washington, DC and has since traveled all over the world on display. Of course, celebrating our 250th here in America will be another worthy celebration. Thanks again. I'm getting back to my needlework, and look forward to updates on this, your latest creation.
    Hugs,
    xoxo

    1. Glad you can see it! I know it doesn't always translate well onto a screen. As for the Birthday Project, it came up in one of the groups and so I thought I'd share in case anyone was interested in taking part. I know you'll post pictures if you do something.

  8. I enlarged it and can see stitching on the chair. Machine stitching on the planks?

    1. Yes, the decking planks are heavily machine stitched.

  10. Six hours and counting — now that’s dedication! I never would’ve guessed there was stitching involved until you mentioned it. Magpie or not, the detail is incredible! Off to explore those links — especially curious about the artist and that fun-looking project 😄

    1. Most people wouldn't be bothered putting the time in to stitch the details into the wood but I think it looks better that way.
