I thought, because there's not much new to show you with the latest landscape, that I would show you a little comparison between how the plain, albeit pre-printed as boards, fabric looks vs. what it looks like after I've added the stitching. All the stitching is done by machine. I also make sure I add the quilt batting prior to stitching so it gives it a little additional dimension. Hopefully you can see the difference!
This is the pre-printed fabric...
and this shows it with the stitching added...
I think you can click on both photos to embiggen
them further.
- THIS is a pretty little printable that you might find useful.
- HERE is a fun little project.
- There are lots of links HERE for ideas for using up fabric scraps.
- There's an interesting article HERE that discusses using selvages.
Today's quote is from George Carlin..."Don't just teach your children to read. Teach them to question what they read. Teach them to question everything. The value of an education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think"
George Carlin has said some deep, deep things - i thought he was funny when i was a youngling, but he was so much more than a good laugh...
ReplyDeleteSo many of the so-called comedy people also have deep thoughts but we rarely know as much about that.
DeleteInteresting to see the elements in your work that are printed on the fabric. I thought you painted and stitched everything. This is interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on what I'm doing as to whether I augment pre-prints or do it entirely myself, so sometimes it's hard to tell. I found several different pre-printed barnboard fabrics and find they're better (after they have stitching added) than anything I can do myself.
DeleteSherryofcreateology: Good Morning MA: Does RC have our cuppas ready for us to enjoy while we sit and chat? I definitely see the dimension your stitching adds to the floorboards. Fun links as always. Good ol’ George Carlin. I always enjoyed him and his wisdoms. Summer high today will be 110F with a low of 80F. Thank goodness for A/C!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying a cuppa while we speak. Hot here too but not quite as high as you're getting. Curious to know if your heat is also humid. Ours is so it makes it feel a lot hotter.
DeleteI know nothing about this but I am enjoying your posts and photos about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks - it's a process that I enjoy doing but it is a time-sucker.
