Here are the remaining pictures from the quilt show. Hope you've enjoyed the 'show'!
This one caught my eye because it's a bag made of
selvages!
And finally - this is the quilt that won 'Best of Show'....
And this picture shows the lucky winner...
- Some of you might want to play along with THIS.
- If you're a cross stitcher, perhaps you will find THIS article of interest.
- THIS is something that you might like to make.
- I found THIS article to be quite fascinating! It would be great fun to see some of her work in person.
I think the campers quilt is my favorite - colorful and interesting and also personal and meaningful to the maker :)
ReplyDeleteYes that quilt had a lot of details that obviously were meaningful to the maker. They are avid campers.
DeleteWhy am I not surprised that the winning quilt is an Australian design? They've been in the forefront for years, wonderful creative designs and fearless approaches. I notice that the cards credit everyone, designer, stitcher, quilter. I like that. I've seen too many exhibits where the actual quilter is not even acknowledged.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - it's not surprising that it was by an Australian designer. We have a number of longarm quilters in our guild so it's nice to know which one had a hand in each creation. Hopefully it might serve to get them some further business.
DeleteThat winning quilt is lovely! I really like the details in it.
ReplyDeleteIt apparently took a whole year to make. Amazing to see the details and know that much of it was done on the bias.
DeleteI went to the declutter site -- half of the daily items are things I don't have to deal with (camping gear, schoolyear left overs, etc.). I remember pressing flowers in the pages of an unabridged dictionary. Thanks for the quilt show! Colour My World was a BOM? or quiltalong on Alex Anderson's site as I recall.
ReplyDeleteI pressed flowers that way too and I suspect many people did. I think the Colour My World was a BOM that was done through one of the local quilt shops.
DeleteThe camping quilt was a nice idea for her camping. I appreciate the Gardening Quilt sharing her process.
ReplyDeleteYes the selvage bag is very cute. No waist.
Thanks for sharing this quilt show.
Glad you enjoyed the show! I can't imagine sewing all those little selvages together but it did make a fun bag.
DeleteBest of show is really good..but I like the selvedge quilt..what inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteI liked the Best of Show quilt but didn't really appreciate all the details until I looked at the photo more closely. I've never saved selvedges but perhaps I should start.
DeleteSuch interesting quilt patterns. I really think I may have to start saving selvedges just to make a tote bag.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
How I wish I'd been saving selvedges too because the bag idea is a good one. If we do save them, the person that made the bag suggested cutting a little extra fabric beyond the selvedge in order to have a seam allowance.
DeleteColour My World is amazing! What a fun and beautiful design. I've enjoyed all the quilt pictures! And that Save Our Selvedges tote is pretty fun, too!
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly deserving of the Best in Show award. Glad you enjoyed the show!
DeleteSherryofcreateology: Home after visiting family and friends in Southern California. Not fun because they all have serious health issues. Fabulous quilts you have shared. Thank you dear. The Best of Show is amazing! Back to my chores…gratefully!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you were happy to get home and resume your life. It's nice to go away but usually even nicer to come home.
DeleteWow MA! These are all stunning! I haven't been to any shows in years. There is a fiber show in September up in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin. My cousin and I are planning on going to that one.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great show and fun to see all the amazing quilts.
