You'll be glad to know that my supply of bulky yarn is dwindling and so the Grande Hat Caper of 2024 is nearing the end. These are the latest...
Here at Chez Magpie we are as ready for Christmas as we'll ever be. Gifts are pretty much all delivered, social engagements are pretty much at an end, and there will be no more shopping done until after the day. The only errand I foresee is to pick up some 'on hold' books from the library. Time to cocoon and do a whole lot of nothing!
- You might enjoy THIS concert. I know I certainly did!
- HERE is something that would be easy and quick to make for gifts.
- If you have leftover fleece from making other projects, perhaps one of the ideas HERE might help use it up. Or perhaps THIS.
- Must say that THIS is a novel way to give a monetary gift!
- HERE is another quick-to-make little gift that someone on your list might like.
- And I wouldn't mind being your official taste tester for some of THIS!
One of my favourite Christmas quotes is from the Grinch... “What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas ... perhaps ... means a little bit more!”
Neat hats--nice work on all of these--no one need to have cold ears this winter ;)))
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julierose
I hope they help a lot of people to stay warm!
DeleteGreat hat initiative! They'll be welcome.
ReplyDeleteI think the money ball idea needs to be explained so it's not just treated as an ornament, no idea of its content!
I'm welcoming the stash reduction aspect but...what did I do this morning?...order more yarn! In my defense it's not bulky weight and is the type I like to use for kitchen scrubbies. #2 son requests a hundred every year (needless to say he doesn't get his wish but at least he gets a dozen).
DeleteYes, I would explain the money ball, for sure. If my mother were still alive my RC would so have done that for her, only he'd have put a jar of baby prunes in the center (a joke between the two of them).
Hats off to you! Will you end up with a group of interestingly multicolored hats to use up all the leftovers? Hope the books will be good ones!
ReplyDeleteThere will be some judicious blending of colors for sure. Nearing the end of the yarn in that weight for which my hands will be most grateful.
DeleteOh yay, someone who enjoys a good link love list as much as I do, I think. Great ideas, and your hats looks beautiful. Merry December!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And Merry Christmas wishes to you and yours as well!
DeleteLove your hats! Good use of the yarn. I need a few items from the supermarket just down the road. Except from that shopping trip (tomorrow morning), we won't get out for some days either. Enjoy quiet days!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to use up all that yarn and even more so to be able to make something that will be welcomed. No shopping left for me, although there will be a quick trip to the library tomorrow.
DeleteThe Grinch had the right thought. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly did! Merry Christmas to you as well.
DeleteIt always feels good when everything is done and it's time to relax and enjoy the season. Wishing you all the best!
ReplyDeleteYes, it certainly does. All the best to you as well!
DeleteWhat a great way to use up lots of yarn! I'm knitting away, but just on a pair of socks for a New Year's gift :)
ReplyDeleteSocks are much harder to knit than hats!
DeleteOooh, pink ones too! I'm sure they will all be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI combined what pink yarn I had with other colours to stretch it further so I could get some more feminine hats.
