Thanksgiving and ornaments

I know it comes as a surprise to some people,
but Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated at a
different time than in the US.
So - Happy Thanksgiving to those of us
in Canada!

I've completed the first of the 'house' ornaments from the series I've been working on...

This one was really tricky because I had to resize the base and the 'roof' to suit the fact that I didn't use the correct size of aida cloth for the base.  It was a case of using what I had (as usual) and not thinking ahead to what I might need to adjust later on.  Took some finagling but I managed.  If you want to see the original design and more pictures  go HERE

JUST A REMINDER - I'M HAVING A PRE-CHRISTMAS SALE ON MY LANDSCAPES UNTIL OCT. 15th.  IF YOU WANT ONE FOR GIVING OR FOR YOURSELF NOW IS THE TIME TO GET $25 off!! Check out the LANDSCAPES FOR SALE category in my sidebar to see what's currently available.

- Although the yarn for THIS design has been discontinued I really like the pattern.  Other yarns can easily be substituted I would think.

- If you scroll down a little bit HERE  look at how they've mended the socks!

- Should you feel the desire to make fun cookies for Halloween perhaps THESE might be fun.

- THIS is a really pretty afghan design that would be fun to make.

Today's quote is from Monique Hammond..."Although Thanksgiving comes but once a year, every day should be a day of thanks"

  1. You meant to say that Canadians don't do everything exactly like we do in the US? Oh the horrors! LOL!
I hope you and the Chef had a great Thanksgiving and I love your new ornament.

    1. Quiet Thanksgiving for us. Our closest family involves the chef who always has to work on holidays. And no, we don't do things exactly like the US....who knew?

  2. The up cycling link is great! Except that someone ruined an 80s wedding dress. It could have been altered to fit and looked wonderful. An iconic piece ruined. You have to go for up cycling with a bit of knowledge as well as cutting and slashing energy. Sign me: upcycler who tries to know when to upcycle

    1. I was most interested in the socks! I've upcycled wedding dresses before but made sure they weren't useable first. I suppose if you really wanted to use your wedding dress to make something that you could use or display it would be okay, but just for the sake of using as fodder isn't on my radar. Sez I, who didn't have a wedding dress!

    1. There is only one of the house ornaments pictured here - I just tried to get both sides of it in the photos. There are more to unveil (3 more, to be exact).

  5. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had ours last night and the sons left this morning fairly early. Seems very quiet around here now.

    Cute ornaments.

    God bless.

    1. I admit I do enjoy cross stitching but once I get the current lot of projects out of the way I'm going to be happy to create another landscape.

    1. Math isn't my strong point and thinking in terms of angles added a little bit of 'spice' to the attempt but I'm happy with the end result.
