Right jab, left jab and almost a finish

Now how's that for a blog post title?  The right and left jabs, as you may have guessed, refer to the fact that Resident Chef and I got both our flu shot and our bivalent Covid booster shots yesterday....one in each arm.

And, the almost a finish refers to the latest sweater to come off my knitting needles.  After much procrastination I finally got the seams done although I still have to muster my courage to sew in a zipper.  I've sewn zippers before but never into a knitted sweater.

The pattern I used, sort of, is THIS one.....BUT.....I changed it.  I added a basketweave design pattern to the main body pieces but did the sleeves plain.  Yarn was entirely leftovers of Lion Brand Jeans yarn that I used to make the sweaters for the grandies last Christmas.  I played a game of yarn chicken and I won!

- THIS little fellow made me smile!

- THIS is another nice shawl design (scroll down for the pattern)

- There are tons of ideas HERE to use up fabric scraps.

- THESE are really pretty and don't look too difficult to make.

Today the quote is from Adam Stanley...."It's better to have your nose in a book than in someone else's business"

  1. Glad you got the shots. It's quite a relief to feel more protected.

    1. It is a relief, particularly now when our local hospital is pretty much on lockdown as well as some of the nursing homes in the area. Doesn't stop people from insisting on not wearing masks though...idiocy reigns supreme.

  2. Happy Shots!
Cold compress on those sore arms will ease discomfort.
Love the sweater, more versatile to wear in solids.
Great quote. Makes a book as a gift a hint maker.

    1. Not much soreness today - at least not until you poke the jabbed spot (and if you're smart you simply don't do that!). Minimal side effects for either of us.

  3. We are so glad we got both shots too two weeks ago...left, right for sure. My "Covid arm" was really sore at the site for about 3 days, not the "Flu arm"--but I felt like I had a brief tug-o-war with the flu ...good to be protected when these "no-maskers" are everywhere--people have very short memories I find!! Hope your weekend is a good one...hugs Julierose

    1. The covid numbers are on the rise locally with the hospital in partial lockdown as well as some of the nursing homes. We're doing our part (including masking) to avoid getting it but it's hard when so many people are simply ignoring the government guidelines and going their merry way.

  4. I will be making our flu shots for the end of this month. Probably Halloween, as we are now over reactions to the bivalent shots. I love basketweave pattern in knitting.

    God bless.

    1. Here they were encouraging people to get the two shots at the same time, so hope we did the right thing.

  5. Glad you both got your vaccinations and I hope you didn't feel too unwell after them. I have one booked for next week. Love the cardigan. Good luck with the zipper! Hugs Christine xx

    1. We didn't have much in the way of reaction beyond slightly sore arms where the needles went in. Must say we were glad about that! (haven't tackled the zipper yet...need lots of courage for that one!)

  6. We had our two shots on Friday, the day after you did. Right, left for me and both on the left for Bruce because… well, you know. That sweater is lovely, MA! xo

    1. It was certainly cheap to make considering the only thing I didn't already have in my stash was the zipper. Now just have to hope it fits!

  8. What a precious sweater, I love the blues. And those needles are so much nicer than the "other" ones!

    1. The blue yarn was leftover from the sweaters I made for the boys last year. There was 'just' enough of the lightest colour to finish this sweater.
