I know it comes as a surprise to some people,
but Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated at a

different time than in the US.
So - Happy Thanksgiving to those of us
in Canada!
This one was really tricky because I had to resize the base and the 'roof' to suit the fact that I didn't use the correct size of aida cloth for the base. It was a case of using what I had (as usual) and not thinking ahead to what I might need to adjust later on. Took some finagling but I managed. - Although the yarn for THIS design has been discontinued I really like the pattern. Other yarns can easily be substituted I would think.
- If you scroll down a little bit HERE look at how they've mended the socks!
- Should you feel the desire to make fun cookies for Halloween perhaps THESE might be fun.
- THIS is a really pretty afghan design that would be fun to make.
Today's quote is from Monique Hammond..."Although Thanksgiving comes but once a year, every day should be a day of thanks"
You meant to say that Canadians don't do everything exactly like we do in the US? Oh the horrors! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and the Chef had a great Thanksgiving and I love your new ornament.
Quiet Thanksgiving for us. Our closest family involves the chef who always has to work on holidays. And no, we don't do things exactly like the US....who knew?
DeleteThe up cycling link is great! Except that someone ruined an 80s wedding dress. It could have been altered to fit and looked wonderful. An iconic piece ruined. You have to go for up cycling with a bit of knowledge as well as cutting and slashing energy. Sign me: upcycler who tries to know when to upcycle
ReplyDeleteI was most interested in the socks! I've upcycled wedding dresses before but made sure they weren't useable first. I suppose if you really wanted to use your wedding dress to make something that you could use or display it would be okay, but just for the sake of using as fodder isn't on my radar. Sez I, who didn't have a wedding dress!
DeleteAlso happy Thanksgiving! I did put a wish before the weekend on my blog for Canajun readers. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Quiet day here.
DeleteSherry of createology: Your house ornaments are adorable. You did a great job of resizing the roof and floor. Happy Thanksgiving Dear. I know you are thankful every day. Blessings my friend…
ReplyDeleteThere is only one of the house ornaments pictured here - I just tried to get both sides of it in the photos. There are more to unveil (3 more, to be exact).
DeleteI hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had ours last night and the sons left this morning fairly early. Seems very quiet around here now.
ReplyDeleteCute ornaments.
God bless.
Our Thanksgiving was just the two of us so very quiet. Glad your sons made it home!
DeleteYou are really into Cross stitching Mary Anne and doing wonderful job of every one. Your round house is every bit as good as the original. Can hardly wait to see more. enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteI admit I do enjoy cross stitching but once I get the current lot of projects out of the way I'm going to be happy to create another landscape.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving Mary Anne! Love that little house.... so cute! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine. Hopefully the house will meet with approval by the recipient!
DeleteI love the house. It is a different ornament, quaint and cute.
ReplyDeleteI liked them because they are a bit different from what you normally see.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving and I love the ornament! So cute and pretty! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you - on both counts!
DeleteI hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, it won't be long before we have ours!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Book Shop, I like the green and white roof you chose.
Our Thanksgiving was quiet but we had a nice supper anyway.
DeleteSo cute. The recipients will treasure these ornaments.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping they'll enjoy them in years to come but they're a little young just yet to really appreciate them.
DeleteYou did a great job on resizing! Well done!
ReplyDeleteMath isn't my strong point and thinking in terms of angles added a little bit of 'spice' to the attempt but I'm happy with the end result.
