After I finished working on the socks I switched gears and started knitting a scarf.  Not exactly one of my brighter moments because I knew before I started that I would get tired of the process long before I was done.  So....I'm carrying on, but the plan is to try to figure out how to make it into a cowl instead.  I have plans.  And who was it who keeps saying that the best laid plans are bound to go amuck??  Stay tuned...

If you'd like the easy pattern for the scarf, here it is...
Cast on 43 sts (using a worsted weight yarn) with 5mm needles.  Knit 3 rows.  Next row:  K2, *YO, K2 tog*, repeat from * to * until 1 stitch remains and simply K it.     Repeat those 4 rows for the pattern.

There's been more progress on the landscape as you can see from the photo...

I needed to create the borders so that I could carry the tree top over onto it.  Normally I would have completed the building first but in this case I did it back way 'round.

Oh - and there's been a special request for Resident Chef to model his new socks so I aim to please...

- Perhaps some of you might want to take part in THIS?

- I'm currently working on the  scarf but I know I will fizzle out before I get to the end....so....it's being changed into a cowl.  That, in turn, led me down the google path to see how to join the two ends together and I found THIS that I thought you might find of interest too.

- Oh wow!  I just checked into her patterns section on her blog and talk about a rabbit hole!!  Go HERE (pour yourself a cuppa first though!)

- HERE is another of those things that are just plain too cute not to share.

Today's quote..."Find the time - the time to read, to smell the flowers, to paint your dreams, to have coffee with a friend.  Find the time to learn a new craft, to write a letter, to bake a surprise cake.  Find the time to really BE with the person you love, or even to do nothing for awhile"

  1. I was hoping for a modeling picture of the socks, thank you.

I very much like the tree spilling over the border, yes to that.

    1. I have been known to send people down a lot of rabbit holes and I don't apologize for it either (hee hee - misery loves company!)

  3. Love the addition of the border to your latest landscape Mary Anne and your continuation of the tree over the top. Lovely photo of the Resident Chef sporting his new socks too! Very sound advice from your quotation today! Hugs Christine xx

    1. I'm working slightly out of order on this one but I wanted the tree to be over the border so it's a case of whatever works. Resident Chef seems happy with his new socks.

    1. Thanks Judy - Sometimes trees just have to spill over.

    1. It is an easy pattern for sure (I just have to remember to count the stitches when I've completed a pattern row because a couple of times I forgot to do the YO). It will be going in the (dare I say it?) Christmas box.

  6. Love seeing the process on the quilt and of course, the sock model is a hit. And I love the quote today also. Another one I'll have to add to my collection.

  7. Nice socks. lol
Scarves. At the thrift store there is a large 2 section wood box full of winter hats, scarves, cowls. A couple of the cowls are huge!

    1. I like cowls far better than scarves mainly because a scarf always seems to get caught in the car door.

  8. I have turned lots of scarves into cowls or infinity scarves... This pattern should work well being turned into a cowl. I do love the colour.

    God bless.

    1. Good to know it's been done so I am happier with my decision. I'm trying the 3-needle bind off and hopefully the 'seam' won't show too much.

  9. Fabulous socks, well done! I might have a go one day ..... got the wool, and needles, just not sure I’d finish them! Ha ha!
Love the quilt. I have memories of loos like this when my family used to go camping back in the 60’s (I was about 5 or 6 at the time). It was a nightmare! Couldn’t understand why the loos were like that - we did have an indoor loo in those days.
    Love your scarf too.

    1. Some people knit both socks at the same time but I've never attempted it. I just make sure I cast on for the second sock the minute I finish the first and that seems to keep me from the dreaded 'second sock syndrome'.
Outhouses were pretty common when I was young, at least in our farming community anyway. You don't see them now beyond in parks and usually they're much better kept than ours ever was.

  10. What a beautiful red, no matter what you make of it!
I like how the tree is over the border.
Oh yes, the socks look so much better when displayed properly.

    1. The red is actually a deeper red than the photo shows. If I hadn't already made myself two cowls I would be keeping this one, but it's going in the Christmas box.

Thank you so much for leaving comments! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy life to talk to me. It's wonderful to know that someone is actually reading my mumblings and even more fun if I can connect with you and visit your blog.
