For lack of.....

I didn't manage to accomplish as much as I had hoped on the landscape, but I will share a partially completed corner so at least you have something to see.   There's a lot more going to happen with this but you can get the general idea...maybe!

Our corner of the world has had some snow 'events' the past few days and the driving has been quite dangerous due to blowing snow, whiteouts and black ice.  All sorts of accidents and even a county just south of us declaring a state of emergency.

This is more like the winters I remember from childhood but not something we've seen in many years. During the winter of 1959-60 I remember my dad and all the men that lived on our country road having to shovel ahead of the snowplow in order for it to get through the huge snowbanks.

- Donna of Brynwood Needleworks posted a link to THIS and of course I got excited about it.  I doubt most of you know this about me, but I am an organizational book junkie.  I compulsively read them and enjoy them just like a great novel.  Yes, I'm weird.  Now, having said that, does much of what I read filter into my brain?  Why no, no it doesn't.

- If you're like me and like working with recycled denim, perhaps some of THESE ideas might catch your eye.  I've pretty much given up working with it though because my hands no longer like it.

- THESE are intriguing - could be a number of uses for them.

Today the quote is from Carl Reiner ..."A lot of people like snow.  I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water"

  1. I love organization books and articles. And self care. And self help. A lot of it is enjoyable fantasy around here.
That corner of stitching is just lovely.

    1. Yes, it's definitely enjoyable fantasy!
There's lots more to add to that stitched area yet before I'm satisfied.

  2. Your "corner of sewing" piece did give me strength of hope for spring with the cute flowers. We are having a great Feb warm day at present. At 10:30 am its already 62! I remember once living in college dorm back whenever, we had a warm Feb day and a bunch of girls went to lay in the sun on the dorm lawn in their bikinis! Said they had to get ready for spring break in FL. A couple of days after that we had a major snow. Global warming does not phase me because I've seen a LOT of extremes in my lifetime. Funny, the men had to clear away for the snow plow.

    1. Yes, there's hope for spring and sooner rather than later, please.
I never did posses a bikini and never could lay in the sun, much as I wanted to. I break out in itchy patches if I spend too much time in the sun, so never have tanned much.

  3. A lot of cute denim projects, but like you my hands can't deal with it anymore--but I do love them--perhaps a linen/cotton blend with interfacing could be used? I love the one with all those buttons and trims...so Boho, you know? (Am I a poet today? ahaha)
And the Boro is really neat with the diagonal stitching--again great ideas that could be used on some lighter fabrics maybe. thanks so much for your great posts with all these wonderful crafty ideas Hugs, Julierose

  4. If your stitching doesn’t give one spring fever, nothing will. I like your saying that a lot more is going to happen. I will be watching. “Unnecessary freezing of water” ha ha! Hopefully we will soon be done with that for this season.

    1. Well I'm glad my stitching made you think of spring. And I've always been a believer that snow IS an unnuece3ssary freezing of water.

  6. Oh Mary Anne, your corner embroidery is just so lovely, beautifully stitched. I tried to embiggen it, but for some reason it didn't work.
Your two pictures, are they consecutive pictures - together making a larger panorama? We haven't seen any settled snow - one day just large flakes, but that was all, I'm glad to say!
The denim pictures are inspiring, particularly as I have a bin full of old jeans just waiting for the right ideas. There's a few there ... maybe !
    Have a good day, MA.

    1. There's a lot more stitching about to happen in that corner before I'm done. Sorry you couldn't embiggen it....don't know why that would be. As for the two pictures....no they're not consecutive. The embroidery is in the bottom left of the 'whole' and the part with the outhouse itself is sort-of mid right (if you scroll down to previous post you can get a better idea).
Wish I could still work with jeans but alas my hands don't like it anymore.

  7. The embroidery you have added to your landscape is just gorgeous Mary Anne. Sorry about all that white stuff.... hope the rest of the week improves and it calms down. Hugs Christine xx

Supposed to be getting freezing rain later today....hope it passes us by.

  8. I seem to be constantly reading organization books and then trying to do it in the house. I must say that things don't always work the way I want them to. Hence why I am constantly changing things around.

Love the corner of the of the landscape. It is going to be something spectacular when finished.

    God bless.

    1. I really don't know why I love those sorts of books when not much of what I read actually filters in and gets acted upon. Oh well, they say it's the thought that counts!

  9. I can't say I have too many books under the heading of 'Organisational Junkie'. =) Oh, how pretty is the little corner of sweet birdies and embroidered flowers! Goodness that is a lot of snow. 'Tis probably Old Man Winter reminding you there is just a little winter weather before Lady Spring settles in.

    1. I also have a 'thing' about reading books about needlework. Most people look at the pictures and skim the content whereas I read pretty much everything. As I said - I'm weird.
Oh yes Lady Spring, please do hurry up!!

    1. The birds need some work yet - they're too bland so my pondering hat is on whilst I come up with some sort of solution.

The snow is so pretty, especially looking at it from the inside. I hope you were able to stay inside to enjoy it.
