Another page

Took me two days to make this page but I had fun anyway.  The doors and windows lift up and there are family pictures behind...her mommy and daddy are behind the doors and her brothers are 'in' the windows on either side - the three grandparents are in the top windows.  You can't tell from the picture but the roof on the house is heavily textured upholstery fabric - gives a realistic 'shingles' effect I think.

- There are some great patterns HERE for stash busting your yarn collection!  While you're there have a peek at the listings of free patterns at the top of the blog - lots to keep you busy for awhile!

- Some of you may have heard about 'Temperature Blankets' or quilts and if you're interested in knowing more, or making one yourself, perhaps the quilted versions found HERE and HERE might be helpful.  Those links are to quilted versions, but there are oodles of design ideas to either knit or crochet.  Do a Google and you'll find lots of ideas!

- THIS link takes you to a tutorial for sewing vinyl bags.  The tutorial is geared towards toy storage, but I know for a fact that they're also wonderful as project bags for us too!  They'd be perfect to store small items in the car too - lots of different uses!

- HERE is a cute little tutorial to make quilted hearts - perhaps for Valentine's Day or just because!

Today's quote is from Robert Swan..."The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it"

  1. That house page is beyond great. What fun for a baby to be able to learn her family group this way. I hope ut survives to be an heirloom, though the really successful toys tend to get loved to bits.

Your quotation of the day applies to a lot of problems!

    1. I'm not worried if it survives - if it does, that's great, but I'd rather she play with it and love it to death.

  2. Beautiful. I will miss the books when you finish them. The quilted hearts link is right on time!

    1. I'll miss the book too! It's been a lot of fun but also involved a lot of problem solving throughout.

  3. This page is the very best yet! Having family photos in the windows and door is perfect for little who live farther away from family members. Love the roof of shingles. You think of everything dear. Very nice links thank you. Yes let someone else save the planet…not!

    1. It's one of my favourite pages too I try to make each page interesting in some way with lots of texture and things to 'do'.

  4. Your latest creation will be a winner with the GKs, Mary Anne. Do we get to see the inside sometime? Good quote!

    1. See the inside? These pages are the insides of the book. I have yet to create the cover and at this point not sure what I'll do for that.

    1. Don't know if they'll become heirlooms. I'd far prefer they get used and worn out, but who knows.

  7. You really are outdoing yourself. These last two posts simply blow me away, and definitely show how creative and talented you are. This book will definitely be a treasure forever!

    1. Thank you - how nice of you to say that! I don't know if it will become a treasure, but I suspect it will be played with if the older ones are any indication.

  8. What a great page.

I made 4 temperature blankets over the years. One for the year we were married (gave it to Kurt as he was born almost at the end of that year), one for 2019, one for 2020 and one for the year our youngest was born 1981. When I laid them together in order you could sure see the changes. I am contemplating one for weather (snow, fog, wind and rain) but just have to figure it out.

    God bless.

    1. You've made four? I haven't even managed to do one! I've thought about it quite often but then I look at how many different yarns I would have to buy and that puts a stop to it. Maybe one day I will succumb.

  9. That “page” is just gorgeous! I’ve thought about doing a temperature quilt with our weather there would be highs and lows, that,s for sure. Piece in your header is beautiful.

    1. I'd like to do either a crocheted or knitted temperature blanket but the yarn cost would be a bit much, to say nothing about the amount I'd have leftover afterwards.

    1. Can't say the ideas are all mine because many of them came from the internet, but the execution is mine in that I've changed all the ideas I found to suit myself.

    1. I think a set of those vinyl bags in various sizes would be a wonderful gift -especially if the zippers were bright and colourful.

  12. Precious to have a house full of people. The roof sounds great. Texture is always great for little hands. I first noticed the stone that built the house. Is that fabric, or added coloring or stitching? Enjoyed all the links, especially the temperature quilts.

    1. The 'stone' is actually a pre-printed fabric that I have in my stash for using with landscapes. It was perfect to create the house.

    1. I have accumulated a number of fabrics that are good for making buildings and that one just seemed like a good choice.
