Over the past few days I finished off a little blanket I had on my list for the new baby. The center is knit and then I added a crocheted border around the outside because I wanted it a bit larger. There's only one more thing on my Grandma-Make list for her and it will take awhile. I'll show you the start of that in my next post.
Pattern is the 'Sunny Baby Blanket' and can be found HERE. The edging is simply a pretty simple crocheted shell pattern. Yarn is 'Baby Coordinates' by Bernat.
That a pretty blanket. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you! They don't want the traditional 'pink' colourway for her so I thought tempering it with a bit of grey and white would be okay. Happy 2022 to you too!
DeleteLovely baby blanket with the knit center and crocheted edging. I love the quote. Such a sweet way to help others,
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry - I often do crocheted edgings on knitted items, just to add a little interest.
DeleteGood luck with the cellphone adventure. Such a learning curve.
ReplyDeleteLearning curves are something I approach with a whole lot more trepidation than I used to!
DeleteVery lovely blanket. Love the pattern and colors.
ReplyDeleteThe quote is wonderful, good to remember. Good news on your phone progress. Texting might feel challenging now, but it has benefits.
Hopefully I've added enough grey to the pink to temper it somewhat.
DeleteI know texting isn't difficult but to me it's just plain not worth the effort. I guess, if we were people that got umpteen phone calls every day, it would make sense but if our phone rings (beyond telemarketers of course!) once a week it would be a banner week. Might make one long distance call every six months and that's about it.
You are such a good grandma making all those memories. I bought yellow fabric last spring to make chickens - your link today reminded me. I should start now instead of waiting for warmer weather. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI do take my Grandma duties quite seriously! Looking forward to seeing your chickens.
DeleteLove the blanket. Bernat makes such lovely yarn for baby items.
ReplyDeleteWe cheated and got Kris to put our QR codes in our Saskatchewan vaccination wallets. Helps to have a techie son.
God bless.
I like Bernat yarns - Red Heart, not so much.
DeleteMy techie son had the audacity to move to BC and left me on my own to muddle through tech. The nerve of the boy!!
This beautiful blanket looks so soft. The mix of knitting and crochet are a great look. I wonder what reaction you get from Baby's parents when they see another gift for Baby from Grandma.
ReplyDeleteIt is soft but has a little bit of a sheen to it as well. The gifts I've made for the wee one will soon be all bundled up and sent on their way via courier. They no doubt have a good idea what's coming because it was much the same for their two boys.
DeleteWhat a wonderful Grandma! You have made so many wonderful things for all your grandchildren! I hope you get the QR code downloaded. I am sure your determination to visit will help you succeed! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI truly love making things for my grandies, but I'm realistic to know that they will only be excited about such things for a little while and then they won't be interested. Best to indulge myself while they're little!
DeleteI really like the Messy Jessie blog. Be brave with that phone. Go forward. If you can write a blog, you can learn that phone.
ReplyDeleteBeing brave with the phone - hmmm - we'll see! Blogging is a cinch in comparison!
DeleteThat is a beautiful blanket! I love the effect of they yarn.
ReplyDeleteI think there's just enough grey in the blanket to make it not too 'girlie' - at least that was the intent. I added plain grey in the border and that helped too.
