On Pig Stys and other things

I guess this post is falling under the 'mumblings' of a random nature - poor you!

Random Thing # 1 - Booked the carpet cleaners to come and 'do something' with our well-worn but not replaceable carpets (apartment life, what can I say).  There was a small accident in the hallway outside the bathroom door that may or may not have involved much of a container of liquid laundry soap getting up close and personal with the floor.  It may or may *not* have involved moi.

Random Thing # 2 - Regarding the above - have to figure out how to move everything that's moveable and stash it somewhere else so they have the most access possible.

Random Thing #3 - Thought fleetingly of attending the local pop-up clinic for vaccines tonight to get our 2nd dose sooner than it's scheduled.   Good thing we didn't because it wasn't scheduled to start until 4 and by 3:30 they were completely full.  DH attempted to get his moved closer via the phone and he would only have saved himself 2 weeks and he would have had to drive over an hour to get to the closest available.  Nope, not gonna happen.  As for me, I'm not even going to try after all the debacle I went through to get the first  two scheduled.  Sept. 1 will come soon enough.

Random Thing # 4 - I'm continuing with the little stitcheries and have 32 completed (out of 48).  Here's the latest....

Random Thing # 5 - It pays to be loyal.  For several years now I've requested a loyalty discount from our internet/tv/phone provider and they always come through with something in order to keep our business.  This time I saved $50/month for the next 3 years and a free rental of the receiver/box for the next 15 years.  Not bad....proving that you just have to ask and you might be surprised what they'll offer you.

Random Thing #6 - It's a small-ish town and we really don't expect to have to deal with big city rules but it seems we're being dragged into it no matter what.  Seems imminent that we will no longer have free parking for our guests at our building which is most likely just going to lead to people parking in the park to avoid paying.  The almighty need for the most bucks at work.

Today's quote - "The greatest danger to our future is apathy"

  1. So your town has caught up with the money raiser sharks in the big smoke; that's a pity. Gosh, the hoops you have to jump through to get vaccinated?? Good news re your internet provider, though.

    1. Yes, the ownership of our buildings (and I suspect many of the others in smaller towns) are out for the almighty dollar at the expense of the communities they are supposed to serve. Our current owners are based in the US so they have no idea what we need here. We're currently grandfathered in for some things but we know the odds are that they will try to make it difficult enough that we will either bow to their demands or be forced to move elsewhere. So yes, it's a good thing I saved some $$ with the internet/tv/phone provider.

    1. Sometimes randomness is the only way we get through the day. And thank you for the wishes for Resident Chef - I will pass them along.

  3. okay, well, it's just annoying that you can't get vaccinated as easily as we have. Mine was months ago and now my younger husband is getting his second one tomorrow ... had the first at the end of April. We are able to just go online, book a day and time and voila...so simple. How come they can't do that for everybody in the damn country is beyond me. Apparently some folks have not even been able to get first vaccines .... ridiculous!!

    1. It wasn't simple for me to get mine booked but DH had no problems. He tried to move his 2nd one ahead but it meant he would have to drive nearly 2 hours to get it - and only 2 weeks sooner. I'm not even going to attempt to move mine - leaving well enough alone!

  4. Your random things are mostly good it sounds like - well, except for the parking situation. How frustrating. I guess rent isn't adequate payment for allowing a guest to park somewhere near your door... (eyeroll here)

    1. We live in the biggest (of 3) building and we have the least amount of visitor parking - go figure. We quite often come home and find somebody has parked in our spot because there's nowhere else to go (and our spots aren't marked clearly as being for tenants only). I imagine that when the visitors have to start paying for parking they will simply look for the first available tenant space and use that. Could be fun!

  5. All random yes, relevant, yes and I can sympathize with several haha! Hope you've been able to get your vaccines and that life is returning to normal in your neck of the woods. It's been a glorious summer here as things are completely open and we are enjoying concerts, restaurants, shopping etc. freely!

    1. Sometimes we need a little randomness (at least I think so!). Still waiting for our second vaccines - Resident Chef will get his the end of July and mine is booked for Sept 1. Things are very slowly opening up here but certainly a long way to go before there's complete freedom.

  6. We had no problem moving our 2nd vaccine shot earlier - on Wednesday instead of the end of July. Good luck with yours.

    1. DH wouldn't have had problems moving his earlier - it's just that he would have been forced to drive nearly two hours in order to get it. Not worth it, simply to save a couple of weeks time. I think he's going to try again this week and see if he can get it locally.
