A few more additions to the collection

I've been working steadily on the little stitcheries for the advents and have completed a few more (and also re-stitching the offending 'bleeders' from the other day).....

Some of you may be familiar with the children's book 'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs...

I must admit the book itself is rather underwhelming because there's no story and it's all small pictures....not something that I think would enthrall a 2 year old.  However....the snowman himself is adorable and Sirdar has a pattern!  So....I had to make one for the Christmas box.  I used Bernat Velvet yarn because the original Sirdar yarn is no longer available.  Sooooooo soft and cuddly!!!!

A short update - I saw the specialist again this morning and the lesion on my tongue is, as he thought, labeled as being 'pre-cancerous'.  I am now part of a new study that will further access my risk for actually developing cancer.  The results of that assessment won't be back until mid-September at which point it will be decided if I will need to be seen by him on a 4xyear basis or whether the risk level is low enough to be looked at once a year.  Either way, I am confident this was caught in time and now we go on to the next step.  Evidently tongue issues such as mine are on the rise, so please - check yourself and if anything doesn't look or feel right, get seen by a professional.

  1. So glad you are back on track with the advent stitching. That snowman is gorgeous. Lucky little fella.
It's good that you are seeing a specialist for your tongue. Best of luck.

    1. I couldn't resist the 'I was good' addition - after all, that's important for Santa to know! The tree sculptures are amazing - something I really wish I could see in person.

    1. The snowman is indeed very snuggly. I can't resist hugging him when I pass by. Hopefully a 2 year old 'grand' will be equally as enthralled.

  5. We are finally getting plenty of sunshine (and heat) so that should be a great boost for mental health, but the only place I can go for unashamed conversation is with Hubby. I think you are on top of your health issues; yay for you! Your Christmas box is filling up quickly. The year is almost half over.

    1. Sunshine and warmth here too and I'm grateful for it. Summer is far too short as far as I'm concerned. We won't be able to go anywhere until late September after both of us have had our 2nd shots. Hoping the Christmas box items (at least some of them) will be able to be delivered in person this year!

    1. Thanks Sue - the snowman was fun to make and I must admit he's getting a number of 'test hugs' to be sure he's perfect for a little boy. So far he's passing the test! (and thank you for the hugs - much appreciated)

  7. Your knitted snowman is terrific! Love that. And your newest stitches are looking good! No more running reds! I'm glad to read that you're on top of the tongue issue and that you can rest in that you got it seen in good time.

    1. Oh yes, that snowman is wonderful enough that I almost hate to give him up! I'll enjoy cuddling him until Christmas for sure. Hopefully there will be no more reds making pests of themselves but I have to say I'm almost afraid to do any more damp stretching for fear there's more lurking in my stash. And yes, I'm relieved that I was seen in time and hopefully will be monitored in the future.
