It's been a few days of not much happening on the creative front. I did finish knitting another pair of slippers that will be felted eventually and took a picture with my size 11 foot included so you can see just how much these need to shrink in the felting process.
And....this was the sight that greeted me when I got up early this morning - the view is over the river that runs just outside our apartment building...
I don't normally include too many family pictures on my blog but I simply can't resist this one...
Today's quote is from Zig Ziglar - "If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you"
Those hexie quilts are Hexorama!
ReplyDeleteAnd a hearty agreement to your quotation for the day. When people tell me they were put off making art forever because of something a third grade teacher said, I quietly think they were never much into it to begin with. Nothing on earth can put off someone who needs to make art. But I did help repair damage when I worked with adult students who really were willing to try again later in life.
I must admit my jaw dropped when I saw those hexie quilts - I simply cannot imagine the sheer number of hours that must have gone into them.
DeleteI know exactly about the effects of something a teacher has said and how hard it is to overcome. I was told, at a very young age, by a music teacher that I was to just mouth the words and not to sing out loud. That certainly sticks with you!
Oh those will become nice, cozy and warm slippers--very pretty yarn...
ReplyDeleteBracing for two more rounds of snow this week here; I am now officially ready for Spring!!;000
Hugs, Julierose
The felted slippers have been a huge hit with my family for many years so I expect I'll be making them for a long time to come.
DeleteAs for spring - I'm ready for it two minutes after the first snowfall starts.
It amazes me how fast you can knit and crochet.
ReplyDeleteFun photo! I felt like that diving into pomegranate over the sink. Beautiful sunrise!
I know I'm a fast crocheter but knitting not so much. The slippers do work up fast because they're made with a big needle and two strands of yarn.
DeleteHe's adorable! Hope he likes bath time as much as peanut butter. I'm going to save that bag pattern - may help me use up some of the jeans I've got stashed away.
ReplyDeleteHe does love his bath and evidently cries every time they take him out of it. I imagine he certainly needed one after this!
DeleteI like that bag idea too and if I still had a stash of denim I'd probably make one.
I love your art quilt in your header photo, and the little guy who likes his peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI love that little guy too! How I wish we lived closer so I could have grandma snuggles (peanut butter face or not!). Thank you for the comment!
DeleteYou sure can knit! Gorgeous sky to begin your day. Peanut butter photo is Priceless! I love learning new things.
ReplyDeleteAh, my knitting prowess isn't that great...has to be a pretty simple pattern for me to be able to make it. These slippers are about as complicated as it gets. And yes, little Peanut Butter Face is pretty darned cute.
DeleteStunning morning view.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately there hasn't been too many days this winter that we've seen much sun so this was a pleasant surprise.
DeleteThose quilts...bloody heck :) Hopefully they were done by machine and not by hand. You're grandson is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they were hand or machine but either way they're pretty incredible. And yes I think our wee grandson is rather adorable too!
DeleteHe's a cute one for sure and does like peanut butter. The vies is magnificent. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad I didn't have the job of cleaning up the peanut butter aftermath!
DeleteWhat a beautiful morning view! God does provide us with such beauty! Oh My Gosh what an adorable boy!
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly one of the more spectacular sunrises I've seen for awhile. God is indeed good.
DeleteWhat a great picture of your cutie grandson. I can almost smell the peanut butter! lol And those art quilts... is that how one would refer to them? They are stunning!
ReplyDeleteYes, we think he's a cutie too! I would certainly call those art quilts - WAY beyond my capabilities that's for sure.
DeleteWhat a cutie! I know you wish you could see him every day.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, how I miss seeing our grandsons on a regular basis! This little guy (and his older brother) live clear across the country so we haven't met him in person yet. Gotta love covid!
DeleteThanks for the hexie quilt link. Such small hexies making such monster quilts that put ideas in my head.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see if you act on your ideas!
DeleteOh my, isn't he just adorable!!!!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, we certainly think so!
Deleteoh my goodness, what an adorable little man!! I hope you are well, your family too. Make sure you stay safe!
