The excitement knows no bounds!

Yes, the excitement here at Chez Magpie can be just overwhelming.  Case in point?  See this?....

Take the lid off the homemade kefir jar and you'd better be ready to run before it takes over your life!  An experiment in cheese-making is now underway.  Yep, the excitement knows no bounds.

Today's quote is from Martin Luther King.."If you can't fly, then run.  If you can't run, then walk.  If you can't walk, then crawl.  But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward"

    1. Oh thank you Joy - that's so nice! I still would like to be a fly on her wall and pick up some tips.

  2. Wow! That's a fun way to make cheese. lol. A recent TV show made a cheese using lemon juice. I didn't realize homemade cheese can be easy to do. I'm not sure about Kevin, what it takes.

That quilt artist makes quilts as beautiful as yours.

    1. We sampled the cheese at lunch today and it's good! Resident Chef added herbs to it and it's wonderful on a piece of toast. Kefir starts from a 'culture' - similar I guess to working with sourdough. You can google it I'm sure. I've heard of people starting their own using a commercial kefir but our son sent us ours. I am lactose intolerant but I can drink this and now we can easily make the cheese too. Win/win!

  3. Crikey, that must be one healthy culture! I made kefir for years and never had such...exuberance?

    1. Oh yes, it's exuberant! Guess that's what happens when we have some leftover cream and Resident Chef throws it in. Good thing he took the lid off the jar because I suspect it might have exploded.

  4. I think a lot of us are crawling right now. But as long as there's some movement, I guess!

    1. Yes, I agree that there seems to be a lot of slow movement these days.

    1. It definitely is tasty! Even better after it's 'aged' a couple of days to let the herbs blend in.

    1. The cheese IS good, for sure. I know he'll be making it again the next time the kefir decides to explode all over the place. That's what happens when we have a little leftover cream and add it instead of using regular milk.
