And now - for a little change of pace...

How about a doll?

She will be going to live with
my friends granddaughter.
Pattern could I suppose be called my own
because it's been cobbled together from several
commercial patterns until I came up with
what I wanted.

Today's quote is from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee..."Knitting is a boon for those of us who are easily bored.  I take my knitting everywhere to take the edge off of moments that would otherwise drive me stark raving mad"

  1. Dolls are always such fun. This one is a darling. I love her dress! Can't you imagine her being someone's dearest and best friend?

    1. I'm hoping she will be well loved, but you never know what will be 'the thing' when it comes to little kids.

  2. I do like dolls. How tall is this one? Are you going to name her or leave it to her new mom?

    1. She measures about 20" tall so a nice huggable size, and no I won't name her. Her new mommy will get that honour, only fitting I think.

  3. Love Yarn Harlot...she’s such a great knitter and funny too.
This doll is sweet and hoe clever you are to figure her out. I’m sure any little girl would love her.

    1. Yes, I've been a fan of the Yarn Harlot for a long time. Got to hear her in person one time and she's very funny and so down to earth. Hopefully the little girl that will be getting this dollie will like her.

  4. Your "cobbling together" of your doll is fabulous. Love the floral fabric on the sweet dress

    1. I'm a 'cobbler' from way back! I rarely do a pattern the way it was created originally, sometimes much to my own detriment. I had just enough of that floral fabric for her skirt with a teeny bit of scrap left over so I guess it was meant to be.

  5. The doll is charming. Making up your own pattern sounds like fun.

    1. It isn't technically my own pattern because I put the best of several different ones together to come up this one. Each time I make one I tweak it a little more.

  6. What a sweet little doll. She will love it. Found your links very interesting too. I see the beauty in the moldy fruit but I can never take the metallic odor. And the textile info is nice to know.

    1. Don't know if you noticed but that moldy fruit isn't exactly moldy fruit - it's done with beads and embroidery. Incredible work!

  7. Oh Mary Anne... she is beautiful. I love her shaped face, how she has a chin! I also love her shiny black shoes. And the fabric you chose for her dress. Well done!

    1. Thank you Becki - every once in awhile I have to indulge myself and play with doll making. Good thing my friends oblige by having granddaughters for me to make them for!

  9. Precious doll that most likely will become an heirloom. Are you making extra clothes for her?

    1. Oh I hope it doesn't get saved for an heirloom - I want it to be loved and played with. No, I don't normally do extra clothes....she has a dress and pantaloons. If the parents request more clothes I can easily do them, but so far they haven't.

    1. It is! I think it bring out the little girl in the creator and that's a good thing. We all need more of that sense of play.
