Not quite nekkid!

Having a sewing machine that won't do anything but straight stitch rather limits my creative endeavors so I had to cast about for something to work on.  I've been toying with making a doll (or three...maybe four) and this is as far as I got yesterday...

As I said - not quite naked, but close!
Here you see her sporting her camisole and bloomers.

And below she has her slip...

All created from stash findings (bonus!)

Unfortunately I can't share the pattern source but suffice to say it's a cobbled-together one
that originated probably about 30 years ago.  Some parts were from a McCall's pattern,
some were from a Butterick pattern, and some out of my head.
Each time I make her more of her comes out of my head!

....and before you ask, no, I'm not making any announcements about any new grand babies in the picture!  This one is for my friend who has a wee granddaughter just the right age for a rag doll.  I have two more friends who also have granddaughters that will probably get one too.  Just for the sheer fun of making them!

Today your quote is from an anonymous source...  "Things money can't buy....manners, morals, respect, character, common sense, trust, patience, class, integrity, and love"

  1. Your doll is adorable! I'm sure with a few clothes she'll get even cuter! Stash busting - ugh! I've been thinking about that a lot lately. I'm working in a pretty small and crowded space and I've been thinking about how to make a quilt that will use up my fabric but not become the project from you-know-where. Also, I found an old doll that was mine when I was a kid and she too was nearly nekkid! I've knitted her a sweater but she needs more and I probably need to make or adjust a pattern. It will use up maybe a fat quarter, so I'm thinking lots of clothes! Maybe a seasonal wardrobe. When I have time lol. Thanks for sharing your sewing adventures!!!!

  6. You make such cute dolls and this one is a lovely addition to the family. I've been thinking about dolls and tossing around if I should make one. I'm not getting any sewing done. I'm so lazy.
